The food at this Sushi California was good and price is always reasonable. Their premium sashimi platter is awesome and their tempura is very good too. The reason I gave a 4 star is the renovation does not fit the name and compare to other Sushi California locations, this one is dated. I still recommend Sushi California. Fresh sushi with reasonable price.
Here we got Tuna and Salmon sashimi, Las Vegas roll, Caterpillar roll, French kiss roll. We loved it. Very clean, staff was very helpful and engaging, plastic dividers between the tables.We enjoyed it so much I would highly recommend it! And we will be going back. ?
Sushi California is known for their generous portion sizes. This visit did not disappoint. Service is always friendly.Ordered some salmon sashimi, amaebi sashimi, hamachi sashimi, hamachi nigiri, chopped scallop nigiri. Fish was fresh and tender.Location is in the heart of Guilford with ample seating inside (though at peak times there can be a bit of a wait). Free street parking out front .

The food is high quality, unique & some very traditional.Cool, big city atmosphere on a Friday early evening. Wait not nearly as long as you first think or they say. Told us 25-30 min wait. That's just a generalization they tell everyone. Was less than 10 min the text you when its ready. Highly recommended for the sushi lover & in Surrey.
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My boyfriend and I came here because we loved the downtown location so much, but we have never experienced such horrible customer service. We ordered our food and after about 25 minutes we checked in with our waitress to see how long it would be, she told us they had a lot of take out orders so “it will probably be a while”, after we noted that multiple other people who came after us got their food, she checked and came back to let us know she didn’t put our order through so she had to take it again. We received no apology and she avoided us for the remainder of our visit, we received our food over 45 minutes after we placed our initially order and they charged us full price with no apology or further effort to make any amends. I would avoid this location at all costs.
Sushi California Surrey: This will be the last time we will order food at this place. I ordered food online 4hrs prior to pick up time. My husband showed up a minute early and was told “you are early”. He was also told that there’s a balance owed on the order so, with a confused face, he paid the difference. 15 minutes past and no food arrived. My husband went back and spoke to the waitress. 5 minutes later, the food arrived. When my husband came home, I looked over the bill and they charged an extra roll.Why order food online and charge it on a card marked “paid” with a confirmation number and have a balance owed when picked up? We requested food to be ready for pick up at a specific time yet had to wait additional 20 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous! Don’t waste your time at this place. Go to another sushi place that will give you better service online and in person.
A bit crowded when we came today but Covid-19 protocols are strictly implemented like social distancing and vaccination card with id card checking before entering. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming leading us to our seats. The food we ordered are served immediately when ready and they are all great tasting. The serving are larger and priced affordable. A good place to bring your family and friends. I love this place.
Good ambiance. Our server Janiel was very attentive and personable. The portions are big and priced well. Will definitely go back.
