Good, cheap food and definitely does the trick if hungover. Only 4 stars because some of the times we’ve been, the tables have not been cleaned up/tended to. It’s not that it affected my actual meal but sometimes it feels weird to stare at someone else’s leftovers… love their stew beef pho.
We have have frequented this location at least twice a month over the last 6 years. It was excellent, everything from taste to portion sizes. There was an ownership change about 2 years ago, right before Covid and things started to change. Some changes were good: ambience and cleanliness was improved. Staff seemed more friendly. We just ate there again yesterday and noticed some changes that were not so good. Menu prices have gone up (that’s understandable) and portion sizes have decreased dramatically. (That I don’t get - you already raised the prices plus, it’s noodles!)We always order the house special (large). I’m not sure, but I think the bowl is smaller now too? What I’m sure about is that there is less vermicelli, less meat, and less rice (we usually order a side of large rice). We also order salad rolls with peanut sauce. Even these rolls were waaaay smaller than before, we are talking almost 1/3 of the vermicelli missing in the roll. Again, I’m puzzled - it’s noodles - that’s probably the lowest priced item where food cost is concerned.I’m not saying that we will stop going, but let’s just say we are now looking for another regular pho spot.
I can not recommend this restaurant for three reasons: First, the pho was overly salty an lacked any depth of flavor. Second, the salad rolls were highly westernized and were made up mostly of rice noodles. Finally, the waiter we had wore his mask down below his chin and repeatedly coughed and hacked all the while we were there. This is not a place to experience the flavor of Vietnamese food (yes, I have dined in Saigon). Spend your time and money elsewhere.
Omg…. The best pho I’ve ever had in BC. If you order the spring roles, order one more than you think you’ll need… so moreish!!!!!
I am not very satisfied with the service at April 06 around 6-7pm . The sauce that they serve has hair and I told to the person who serve and quickly changed it. However when my food was arrive there is hair again in rice. I didn’t complain that time due to lack of time on my break time . I am regular costumer in this location and i am really disappointed with the service
I really liked it. Super delicious. Good service as I ordered it for take out and they really pay attention to little details. They placed a piece of a carton so that nothing falls apart when I open it. I really like the packaging not Bcz of the looks but Bcz of the amount of care they have for their customers. I might order again from here soon !
Upon entering this restaurant, I was blown away by the professional and clean, yet futuristic and homey setting. However, although the pho was presented nicely, it fell short of my expectations. Although the food came in a timely manner, I found that the serving size was a bit smaller than I had anticipated. There was less (and thinner) meat and noodles than most other places, and the soup was bland and quite salty. (like there was too much MSG)
Not sure what has happened but Pho 99 has gone down hill over the past year. We have supported this local business since moving to the area but we have been disappointed the last 5 times we’ve ordered. Dine in and pick up. Food is over cooked, ingredient missing, flavour lacking and I noticed when paying the POS machine doesn’t allow for No Tip (pu only) or custom tip. No I don’t tip on pick up order but always tip well when dining in. Sorry Pho 99 we will not be returning .
My boyfriend and I come about once a month and always have a great experience. The food is a good price and portions are generous. Service is very efficient and friendly and the food always comes so quickly! I like their system of writing down your order, it makes things so streamlined and makes sure there are no errors in communication. It works out to about $23 for dinner for two which is so cheap for eating out these days. I highly recommend this location!
Consistent pho place that serves up a quick meal whether for dine in or take out. We often get House Special pho and lemongrass chicken with rice. Yummy especially when served fresh. Service is okay. Lots of parking and usually open fairly late too.
