Great coffee, very chic and colourful. Twee experience, limited seating outdoors. Lovely flowers. Great spot for geocachers.
Quirky and unique! Clearly a place where quality of the drink and the service are the priority. The best mocha I have ever had, on multiple continents!
Terrible service and rudest person. The owner was very rude, Asking his recommendation, he just said all chinese bought his house mixed. Already told him i will get a pound to try. Wondering if there was any sample to let us smell the bean. He suddenly said we asked too many questions and kicked us out his shop. He expected new customer should not ask any question about his products.
I have been a customer for many years. Well worth the early morning drives across town to enjoy the smell and taste of fresh roasted coffee. The coffee beans are always excellent!
If they werent so far away I would come here everyday. But having starbucks everyday and then having a coffee from viva java really in between really makes me appreciate how much better their coffee is.
This has been our coffee place to stop if we are in Richmond and sometimes the drive from North Vancouver to get a great coffee!!! Recommended to friends and they are converts now.
Was recommended here by a close friend who lived in Italy for several years - he is certainly more qualified than I am, an aficionado you might say ?. I appreciate the taste - never experienced this before, as well as having a good chat with the owners. Great cultural experience!PS. Thank you for your extra help, definitely did not need to but you helped me out.
I found the guy to be a jerk. Usually I don't mind when service people are stern, but I was tired and just didn't want to deal with it. On the website they don't specify that they only take cash or e-transfer, nor do they specify that there's a minimum purchase requirement of five pounds, which is quite a lot for a single person to buy all at once. This place might be good if you are very advanced in your career of buying specialty coffees, but if you are just trying to get your feet wet, look elsewhere.
I learned about Viva Java a few months ago and have been buying their fresh-roasted 5-bean blend to make my morning coffee ever since. Yesterday, my supply ran out and I had to think about whether to spend the better part of an hour driving to Viva Java and back or buy a bag of Starbucks Special Reserve Guatemala coffee. I happened to be near a Starbucks that had just brewed the Guatemala coffee, so I ordered a small cup to taste. Lucky for me I did. The Starbucks coffee was nowhere near as good as Viva Java's. I took a few sips and threw the rest away. And this morning, I made the drive to Viva Java. When I got there, I was greeted by the wonderful smell of roasting coffee beans. Viva Java makes a better cup of coffee than I can at home but I'm working on improving my brewing skills. When you have those wonderful beans to work with, anything is possible. Viva Java coffee is the best - I've been spoiled.October 2021 UpdateIt has been three years since I first posted a review of Viva Java and time for an update. I live about 30 minutes away, ruling out daily visits. Instead, I buy the 5-bean blend and bring it home to enjoy every morning. Last year, I bought 20 pounds of the stuff. The coffee I brew at home isn't quite as good as a cup straight from Artie's hands (how could it be?) but close enough. To me, Viva Java coffee is a comfort drink - I look forward to it every day and it makes me feel good. When I come for a new supply, the first thing I encounter is the delicious aroma of freshly roasted beans. I enjoy bantering with Artie and taking a coffee to go. Artie is coffee Artisan and a local treasure. I hope he keeps on roasting and brewing for a long time.
Pleasant service and THE best Mocha in town! ?
