First, we order 2 kinds of Xiao long bao and beef noodle soup which are more expensive than other same style restaurant (e.g Dinesty Dumpling house ) but the atmosphere/food are worseTheir beef noodle soup is 14.99$tasted like soy sauce soup, not even the normal flavour of beef noodle soup should be.The beef was over stewed, bad texture. The spoon was dirty which had some BIG spring onion pieces on it, and the server still served it to us❓Secondly, Their Xiao long bao is thick ??if you dip it in sauce and you won’t be able to taste any crab flavor, even it’s just a little( my flavour is light)6pcs Xiao long baoShrimp 12.99$Crab 14.99$Whereas DING TAI FUNG which is one of the best Xiao long bao restaurants only sell 15.5/18.5$ for 10 pcsand Ding’s quality and environment are much better than here.16.5$ for Beef noodle soup but definitely much better as well.Okay, if you think I shouldn’t compare them together, let me lower the standard. How about Dinesty dumpling house?Their xiao long bao is 8.5$/13.95$ for 8 pcs which is thinner than here! The atmosphere/food/server are all much better as well!Last point, who the hack steam it in iron steamer if it’s traditional xiao long bao.
I am originally from Shanghai and I would say this is 70%-90% authentic to real Shanghai food. Among all the Shanghai restaurants in the area, this is the best. Every dish is worth trying, cannot decide what to recommend. The place is super clean, they even have hand sanitizer at the front and staffs are all wearing mask.
Too thick, too much corn flour and tasteless. Sticky rice too watery and tasteless. Waitress didn’t want to take responsibility, she said it’s what it is, either you take it or not. Please think twice before you want to come.
We used to go to this place few years ago. Always packed with people and long lineup at the door. Foods was great even service is bad. Go again recently, no more crowded and lot of empty tables. Prices goes up a lot and dishes quality drops. Service remains poor. In summary, I rather go somewhere else for that price, quality of food and the service. Good luck.
4.5⭐ 小笼包(pork dumplings) and 生煎包(panfried pork buns) are very delicious and are very juicy.? Spicy sour soup is also amazing! Crispness of the chicken wings are just right. Many dishes to choose from. I will definitely come again.
Food is outstanding, service isn't super friendly, but not outright hostile, lol!Worth it for the food. Has more of a home-cooked feel when compared to Dinesty. Not as busy and crowded as it was pre-pandemic.
I have been coming to Top Shanghai for years and it never disappoints. The food is authentic and flavorous. The XLB is one of the best in the city. I would recommend any of their soup dumplings and the Dan Dan noodles.
So delicious pan fried gyoza! But it’s shame,no decent customer service. Nobody speaks English there, even no English on the menu. Taste great but price is like a same as Shanghai river which is a bit more high end restaurant without good services and nice table setting.
They have a wide variety of Shanghainese dishes to choose from. Impressive menu.Noodle wasn’t as good as I expect. However, their appetisers especially Xiao Long Bao is high standard. Would recommend a visit if you missed Shanghainese food in Vancouver.
I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the worst dining experience I've had in a while. Sat down ordered food, waited an HOUR and a HALF before the food even came. Like seriously I'm dying of starvation already. And the food omfg, some of the worst food I've ever had. The lemon chicken literally looked like 3 day old trash left in a store no one wanted, they scooped it up and drizzled some sauce on top, like 80% batter and 20% chicken. Fish soup was terrible, and pork w/ mixed cabbage dish had like 3 slices of pork and all cabbage for 20 dollars. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant before, maybe other than the time in Brazil where I got robbed. Seriously never ever coming back here and I'm telling everyone I know and online to let people know not to get scammed here.
