Came here with a friend for dinner on a weekday. No troubles getting a seat as it wasn't super busy. Pretty big menu and food wasn't too bad either. Got the beef carpacio and that was pretty good. Also a fish liver dish; wasn't a huge fan of it as it tasted like canned fish. Oysters and sashimi were nice and fresh so I'd recommend that. For rolls: got a mango paradise roll and a black sesame roll. My friend didn't like either of the rolls, though I enjoyed the black sesame one. Mango paradise wasn't that great as it had carrots in it; not really a fan of carrots in a sushi roll to be honest. Overall, enjoyed my time there, would come again.
For this who require gluten free food or safe for celiac, I called to ask for gluten free suggestions. They have real crab for substitutions and options but I also asked if they handled the gluten free food differently and they said “they wouldn’t have time”. Quite disappointed as the food is easily gluten free and all they would need to do is clean the surface and change gloves essentially but it was too difficult to accommodate. Just a heads up. :-(
Went here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. Service was pretty slow, but the servers were pleasant. I came in because of the amazing menu on the outside of the restaurant. When they couldn't give me a custom order of tuna sashimi with salmon roe on rice, I opted for a simple salon and tuna in rice. It was $18.99 and the fish was sliced deli sandwich meat thin. The sashimi tasted average. Don't let the menu pictures fool you.I should have went to the other end of the mall and went to T&T for sushi. Only come here if you want to try the expensive cuts. Pictures of the T&T sushi section in the same mall included.
I would come back, staff are nice and they know English. They can split the bill which is bonus. Our orders were coming out fast at first but slowed down and the vegetarian sushi came out last for some odd reason. Probably there were more customers towards our end of the dinner. I would definitely come back and try other dishes.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is definitely what catches your eye first. Dark colours but great lighting. They have quite the variety of dishes but what I was most interested in was the whole fish sashimi. On the menu it says “please as your server for availability” so when our waitress came in I inquired and pointed to the item on the menu. Fish of the day was shima aji so we ordered it. On the menu it says comes with 2 courses with sashimi and hotpot and my mom doesn’t like raw items so we thought this would be perfect. Our food comes, I eat the sashimi while she’s eating the other things and then they take the fish bone away and bring it back fried. Confused, we asked another server if our hotpot was coming and he informed us that our waitress ordered us something else but with the same fish. On top of that, the froi gras nigiri fell apart when you picked it up. We were both disappointed and had to go somewhere else afterwards because my mom was still hungry. I’m not sure why our waitress put in the wrong order when I literally pointed to it on the menu, so I will not be back.
I've been here once when they first opened and the quality has not changed at all. Still fresh and flavourful. The prices are actually more affordable now.. (my own perspective). The set menu is great!! And they have cute kids meal sets too. I'm pretty sure they had an awesome dessert bento set but that wasn't on the menu anymore....Still a great place for family or a date. The seats are very well spread out for covid distancing. Will definitely come back to try other items.
1 star for most recent visit this week. Takes a lot of time to wait for the service and they don’t seem quite welcoming. The main complaint is on the quality and taste on the dishes we ordered. The chicken skewers and wings do not taste good (even with a bit bitter taste). Others are just very plain and way worse than previous taste. The sashimi we ordered was never served until we finish the meal. Overall a very bad experience this time. 5 stars for previous visits so I’ll just average to 3 stars.
Very good food and service... Our new favorite spot
Saba Lunch combo $18 (or $18.50) - includes Miso soup, pressed sushi x2 , salad, California rolls x4, tempura (shrimp, yam, zucchini), saba, on rice. , mochi . There is 1 bowl worth of rice underneath the saba. Wow, I was not expecting so much rice. Counting the sushi and mochi in, there gotta be a tons of carbohydrate content in this combo. Price a bit on expensive side. Will go somewhere else if I could.
Ankimo and the Combo was great the servers very professional and spoke fluent English not pushy at all
