Hidden gem in Richmond. The Shoestring Cafe, at first thought, one would think it serves simple cafe style dish. Saw some pictures and read some views, it was not so simple at all. When I arrived, it was a small place, so reservation should be a must. The decor had this mystery vibe to it. I was super impressed with the plating, it looks high class. The food was delicious, I loved the pork. Portions are a good size as well. Would totally recommend if you have not been here.

Not so much of a hidden gem anymore since the word is out, but definitely worth a visit! Located in the commercial / industrial area of Richmond, this restaurant has plenty of free parking within the plaza and on the street. They usually have special deals for combos like ad $20 to any entree price to also get a appetizer and dessert (any on the menu). Everything we tried was excellent, but these are the MUST TRY..Appetizers- tiger prawn+corn cakes, musselsMain- saffron pasta, lamb chops(8 ribs!)Dessert- chocolate souffle
Came across this classy little restaurant and decided to give it a try. Had the BBQ beef ribs with butter garlic linguine and the shoestring fries. The food is with great portion and beautifully seasoned, and service friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back for another relaxing dinner experience.Love the skinny fries a lot
This is seriously such a hidden gem that's tucked away near the outskirts of Richmond. I still find myself thinking about the fresh baguette served with their homemade shrimp butter (which I highly, highly recommend). The table ordered the Dungeness crab with avocado salad and the seafood and corn chowder for the appetizers. They were extremely well-seasoned and was a perfect way to start off our meal.As for the mains, we opted for the cajun chicken alfredo, grilled aged rib eye steak, and the seafood alfredo. Again, completely had our minds blown by how amazing it tasted. For desserts, we had their flan and panna cotta, which was great as it wasn't sickeningly sweet. The prices a bit on the pricier side, but the entire meal was totally worth it.
Mom’s choice of restaurant for Canada Day. Small restaurant in commercial area. Good quality food, decent portions. Price is on the higher side for the restaurant setting and area but still reasonable. Probably will return just for special occasion.
high quality food and service! ??
Had a chance to try this little restaurant hidden in East Richmond. It’s located in a business district on No. 6 Rd. Inside, there’s about 10 tables. The menu is sufficient with choice on steaks, fish, duck and other meats. The mussels and calamari was good. The main course, the tomahawk steak was the prize. So juicy and done to near perfection. Other entrées included duck breast and halibut steak. All good.
WOW. That's the only way I can describe this place. The name is totally misleading. You would think it is a café amidst all the businesses in the area. Wendy the server was so friendly and explained every option available. The best part is all food is prepared fresh and nothing is pre made. Once done that's it. I certainly recommend it not only for the service but for the food, the presentation and the flavors. 100% a must try.
It's quite the hidden gem, given the location.Food here is pretty standard French cuisine (with good execution). The shrimp butter is super tasty with freshly baked bread!Only critique I have is the ambiance. As soon as a large party comes in, the place becomes unbearably LOUD.
