Huge disapointment. We order Phở đặc biệt (special Pho) and 2 dishes of cơm tấm (broken rice). Pho was too salty. Com tam dishes didn't come with broken rice. The rice was soggy. Grilled meat was seasoned way too sweet. This place's worth 1 star but I gave it 2 stars since the server seems nice and responsible. Even though he was on break and having lunch, he still paid attention to the diners and greeted them.
Wow!!! The shrimp, pork, and bean sprout filled Vietnamese Crepe is amazing! It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and huge! Great portions and fresh food. Also has all the usual Pho place staples. The egg yolk condensed milk soda was delicious too and tasted like you were drinking white rabbit candy.
First, despite its name, it is actually a fantastic *Vietnamese* restaurant. So if you are looking for Thai food in Richmond, this is not the place to go. ? But I can promise that you will not be disappointed if you end up here. You will find delicious, flavorful Asian food, in a clean and welcoming setting, with friendly, knowledgeable staff, great prices and prompt service. Well worth a visit.

Food tastes great and generous serving. Restaurant was busy so obviously, regulars always come back for more.I was just surprised because of the name "Thai Son". I thought it was a "Thai" restaurant but it was Vietnamese :)
Relatively cheap and nice quality of Vietnamese food. I always get their pho, the flavour is light and not over powering. Also have had their rice plate, a very big portion, usually last me 2 meals !So far with my multiple visits, service is fast and quality has been the same.One thing is cash only. So make sure you prepare !
Thai Son at Garden City Richmond used to be my favorite Vietnamese restaurant.But my visit this week turns out to be a nightmare. The beef in the pho was very chewy. I barely touched it. When it’s paying time (cash only), I asked for a receipt & was thrown at me.The cashier was a guy in glasses and was extremely rude. The service was terrible. With this kind of attitude watch out you can be yelled at. I will not recommend this place.Sent from my iPhone
delicious food at a very cheap price compared to the common ground, delicious spring rolls with Vietnamese flavor, I ordered com rib skin but only had ribs rice, the restaurant should improve the larger plate of rice will give customers a better experience .
Cheap and cheerful Vietnamese (not Thai) restaurant. A little heavy on the MSG but portions are large and servers are lively. (To the one star reviewers: this isn't Maxim's of Paris. Don't expect high end service when you're paying $12 for a bowl of soup).Cash only but there is a Royal Bank two doors down.
This place makes me laugh, rather not the place but the people/owner/worker.Specifically came in to order a large take out order. Upon my first menu selection I asked for a side of vegetables to accompany my pho, the man (not gentleman) taking my order precisely said "we don't do that here" "that's not what we're about" lol. Oh your not about serving food? Man where did the good old days go?...like a thing called customer service, or just plain old kindness, and talking with respect? I drove from Van City just to try this place during a fricken flood! Like common..treat your customers with a bit of kindness...without us your closed, or did those subsidies make you invincible. ? I won't give you 1 star because I never got to try your food, but I give you 2 stars because your customer service sucks. I'll never be back and I'll spread the word. Not that you care, based on your arrogant attitude.
