I love this place for the BBQ meats. The roast duck is particularly awesome. The soy sauce chicken is really good too, and a great value. They also have roast sausage, which is hard to find at other Chinese bbq places. There's almost always a line for this and it's cash only, so bring lots.
I do not recommend the ROAST PORK! The skin is not crunchy and too salty. I also noticed that the guy chopping my pork gave me a slice of pork that is sitting there at the chopping board for a while which is too drrrrrrryyy ?!!! While others (probably regular customers) got a newly cooked pork. I think the store located at the food court is much better or try Master bbq instead located below Canadian Superstore.
Roasted duck was too sweet and flavorless. Also they only accept cash, not even WeChat pay or alipay. They used 1.1:1 to charge us USD
HK BBQ Novice. Was told it rivals HK BBQ Master, but did not even come close.Extremely unhygienic butcher (at least for North American standards), everything was just a complete mess. Though it is one of the cheaper places to get BBQ meat, you're better off getting it pretty much anywhere else in Richmond.
Great flavours, pretty consistent. Better than many bbq places in this area, including HK bbq master.I was quite surprised to read some of the reviews here about the dishonesty. My family has been coming here for the last two decades and the same guys have been butchering here. The service has always been consistent.Never had any issues with incorrect weight or additions of bones to “tip the scale”.If you ask for specific fat/lean meats they will do their best to suss out what’s available in the short few seconds. And if you’re asking for a roasted pork and want the ribs… you’re going to get some bones. You can literally watch them do it in front of you. Also, I’m quite happy for them to re-dip the bbq pork back into the sauce and I’m fine paying for it. It’s delicious and the kids love the extra sauce on their rice.To each their own - we think it’s pretty fantastic.
It’s not quite as good as BBQ Master but there’s always a lineup so If you only have to lineup for 15-20 minutes, get your meat and then buy a lottery ticket.
Anyone noticed why the bbq duck has no head & neck? My guess is they use frozen duck! The meat was very tough! I’ve also tried their bbq pork & roasted pig! They are far worse than what I expected! I don’t know why there are so many people lining up everyday!
The BBQ shop is very fishy. If you buy bbq pork, they will put extra LOWER GRADE meat into the container before they weight the meat (pay by weight). The lower grade meat will be hidde at the bottom of the box.
Their BBQ meat taste good but they are dishonest at their scale. For BBQ pork, they double dipped in their thick sauce to ensure you are paying extra $$. On roasted pork, they always hide bones under try scale tray and adding to the bottom of the box before weighting it. If purchase roast pork, make sure you chop them at home.
Ordered Whole Piglet during Lunar New Year (at lease 2 days advance ordering, pickup only). You can request to have it pre-cut and place it on a red wooden tray for additional cost. Otherwise, DIY with a trusty scissors/knife can do the job. It can serve 10-12 people.Crispy skin, juicy meat, less salty then their Roasted BBQ Pork.If you order a whole mid-size Roasted BBQ pork is the same price but they don't taste the same.
