Service is fast n food r awesome!
This is the Second time I've ordered a regular sized Chicken and Corn chowder to go. I show up, the have a large size packed up. Will not refund me, and argues that a regular size means large. Won't be back.
The Missus and I had a late Sunday lunch at the Lucky Joy BBQ Restaurant. It was still quite busy even though it was passed the noon hour. The two servers did their best to keep up and were a bit frantic at times. But maybe that added to the atmosphere of a Hong Kong style eatery.I had my favorite combo of roast pork & soya sauce chicken on rice. The Missus had her duck on noodles. The meals also came with a coffee and some chicken broth soup. We both agreed the meals were just average and have had tastier meats elsewhere. Also, our food (both rice and meats) was only lukewarm and we like our food served hotter. The price though was reasonable for Richmond.
Service is great. However food is kinda disappointed..... both of us order noodle soup combo. My chicken rice noodle soup is terrible, a piece of old, rough and chewy chicken wing, comes with few piece of un-cooked/dehydrated dates and angelica sinensis, a patch of rice noodle sitting at the bottom just like a slab of concrete. My friend has fish rice noodle soup which is a bit better, fish is ok while the rice noodle is the same as mine, a big patch of rice noodle sitting at the bottom, and you are not even able to eat at all.And the hot lemon water comes with the combo was far below standard, couple sliced of lemon skin(white part only) for which I will throw to recycle.Tofu with vegetable dish is good, and that is the only dish we enjoy.I would not recommend this restaurant if you would like to have a bowl of noodle soup.
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Food is exceptional and portion is big compared to other restaurants. Price is decent. HK cafe style environment and limited parking there.
Comfortable dining service. I come here and it's not ever too crowded. I like the Free Range Chicken Noodle Soup, which I order every time. Pretty classis Hong Kong style cafe, which has been serving the neighbourhood for many years. I recommend this restaurant.
Got a lobster noodle dish paired with two additional dishes, black pepper bitter melon with beef and steamed fish with tofu. The bitter melon and beef was very salty. Complementary soup was good. Steamed fish and tofu was good. Decent dishes and flavor. Lobster was tasty but a tad bony/average meatiness. Reasonable prices. They also have some diner food here too like baked pork chop rice. Will come back and try that next time.
We always go there for lunch during the week days n sometimes weekends as well. They are like a family restaurant type, food is good, price reasonable, they are very friendly to their customers!
I bet everyone has a "go-to" restaurant on their list when they actually don't know where to go for a quick bite, Lucky Joy is my "go-to" joint!I can't even remember how long we have been dining at this restaurant, must be at least over 25 yrs!! Ya scary right? But throughout the years (even though they changed hands once) the food is still honest, no hassle kind of dependable food, consistency has always been their strong point here! This is also my go-to takeout restaurant whenever I have renovations or anything that would prevent me from using my own kitchen. So what do you say about the food? Good portion, reasonable price and fast service! Free parking at the strip mall (by the way LA Chicken is right next door!) Lucky Joy is like an old friend that would not say no to you whenever you need an extra hand!
