Don’t judge a book by the cover - The humble exterior of Italian Tomato Restaurant says nothing about the amazing dining experience this aged building houses. I think ITR has been in business for at least 20 years but I haven’t found factual data about its history. We finally had a chance to visit it when a friend’s birthday came up. We ordered DaVinci (white sauce pasta) and Caprese (thin crust pizza). The sauce of the spaghetti was creamy, not greasy at all, though, and not overly seasoned, which we appreciate. The amount of protein (chicken breast) was generous and we still got at least 3 pieces of chicken in the sauce when we nearly finish the full order spaghetti. Full order is only $1 more than half order, thus I recommend getting the full. Our veggie+cheese Thin crust pizza has crispy edges like biscuit. Very fresh you know it. After having 2 slices I still wanted to go for another one. Service was friendly and efficient. The server remembered to bring the extra fork and hot water refills we asked.
Great portions and taste if you are into a family style italian restaurant that stays true to form and has a friendly atmosphere.
I visited The Italian Tomato last week for the first time and it was very surprising. Even though the outside isn’t exciting, the ambience, the staff and the food inside are mesmerizing! Our experience began with a very friendly and polite hostess that asked us about our day and showed lots of care towards us. After presented the table our server was there shortly and made sure we had the menu figured out: you gotta choose the pasta and sauce you want, basically matching them. We decided to go with the Fettucini Veneziana and the Lobster Ravioli, both AMAZING dishes. If you want leftovers go for the full portions because they are ridiculously huge. As if he read our minds our server brought two to go containers knowing already we would need them, he was very kind and attentive throughout the night. The Italian tomato is a hidden gem, definitely coming back!! 10/10
Great italian food with cheesy garlic bread appetize, with build your own pasta with red are white sauces and ingredients, and build your own pizza pies . with great cocktails and a great service staff I can not say enough good thing about this restaurant , if in the Richmond Vancouver ares come on in for a great Italian meal just like Mamma used to make
First time eating here for dinner. I always thought this place was just another place that focuses on quantity over quality but I was wrong. The pasta actually not bad. Not much substance but the pasta was perfectly cooked. Nice firm, chewy texture. The portion size justified the price. Recommend to anyone who loves pasta!
We had a funny and wonderful server, Justin. The food was excellent and you can choose any type of pasta with any sauce and ingredients. Be warned that the portions are enormous!!
We enjoyed our recent visit here after not having been for a very long time. We had wonderful attentive service from our server. Ordered the Italian feast which offered 3 choices of 4 items - opted for the Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Parm, and Fettucine Alfredo (other option was Lasagne). Also added the meatball appy. The pastas tasted fantastic and properly sauced. The spaghetti noodles were thin, more like a cappelini, but was done to a nice al dente as was the fettucine. The Alfredo sauce was rich and creamy. The chicken was a good sized serving and cooked nicely. The meatball appy tasted great - fresh, tangy, marinara that was perfectly sopped up with the complimentary bread. Though a little rich at $6 per meatball. If you're looking for a place with classic Italian homestyle fare, then stop by Italian Tomato for your pasta cravings. We will definitely return to try the pizza!
Food is awesome but service is terrible. We have been a regular of the restaurant but this server was a new one and he was absolutely not helpful. We asked for refilling water twice but the server just keep cleaning dishes at the counter. We waited for 10 mins to find him to order additional items, and we literally need to find the receptionist to find the server and end up the receptionist help us to pour water and take additional orders.Worse part is the 18% tips that was included and must have given such horrible service.Best to come here for food takeout or delivery.
Had a chance to eat at the Italian Tomato in Richmond with a friend. Portions were big, prices were reasonable and service was great. Just really good value if you are hungry and looking for some good pasta.
Great service and vibe, the portion of pasta is HUGE, so highly recommend to order one and share it with one or two ppl, the taste was great! The pasta we got was Mama Mia and Marco Polo, both great, but I personally like Marco Polo more. Marco Polo is a pink/orange sauce, which is the mix of tomato sauce and cream sauce, and it has a slightly spiciness in it, so it makes the flavor more rich. The restaurant is quite big, even though we didn’t make a reservation, the wait time was still only 5-10mins, the host and server was very friendly, we had a really great time at Italian Tomato!
