I had the Big Johnson Plate. It offered a good selection of most of their meats. I really liked the St Louis ribs and pulled pork. Both had good flavor from the BBQ sauce and both tender. Found the Dino bone a little tough and brisket dry. Flavor for both these were also just ok. Lacked the smokiness I was expecting.

I am not a big fan of bbq, but in here, foods' were yummy, and even the side foods were good. The servers were nice and kind. I think they know what they are doing. The interier was also appropriate and big enough to give distance between tables. I am willing to visit again if I go to Stevestone area.

I took the wife and kids to Hog Shack today. It was awesome, we had the perfect lunch. The caveman and the garlic prawns surprised us. Must go again :)

This is the place I brought my good friend when I was craving for some nice BBQ MEAT.The food was excellent and of course, it was deliciously greasy - the joy from the guilt. My friend told me that he came back to this place again with his wife a few days later because he really liked this place. Yay!I would take half a star off for this visit as two servers seemed to be highly occupied even though the restaurant wasn't that full - it took me a while to get their attention before I could get hold of them. Maybe a busy day? It didn't bother me at all after the food was served. Good food, period.I will definitely come back again, but maybe only with my guy friends who crave for BBQ. Might not be the perfect place for my family who doesn't like greasy (I mean, HAPPY) food.

I've eaten at the restaurant before COVID, more than once, and been happy with the meals everyone had. I had St. Louis style ribs delivered today. These were far and away the worst ribs ever. Burnt/overcooked, with no juicy meat. With most of the meat burned away. Shocking, really. If I had had them at the restaurant, I would have sent them back.At one point, I thought I had chewed into something tender, but it was the bone, not meat. The bone was so burnt that it crumbled when I bit into it.These ribs were shockingly bad. Completely awful. I want my money back.

Their brisket is really really good, its juicy, the bark is crispy, and the smoke flavors are deep inside. However, the pulled pork taste exactly like canned thai tuna. Too mushy, too sweet, too much sauce overall. Sauce should not be part of the pulled pork.Ribs are also quite dry to the point where the end pieces taste more like rib jerky than actual ribs.Sides are good, chicken is also good, but im let down by the pulled pork and the ribs.

Had brisket, pork ribs, slaw and cornbread. The two sides very great, as were the pork ribs which had great texture (glide off the bone but crispy bark) and a nice sauce. The brisket I found very disappointing and I would not recommend getting it. It didn't seem smoky at all and did not have a great texture. As brisket is a key feature of bbq, I was not too impressed but since everything else was so good I enjoyed my experience.Brisket 2/5Everything else 3/5

Hogshack is a top tier barbecue place specially if you want some delicious corn bread, fall of the bone ribs and juicy briskets. By far, my favourite item is the corn bread but don't let that stop you from getting their rice pilaf and fries as well.Overall the food was excellent and the service was great as well. We will definitely go back.

It is South Kansas style BBQ , the different between St .Louise BBQ is the sauces is more thickened and they use more variety of meat , and both delicious . ( they both come from Missouri ) after a nice relaxing walk along the Dyke and trail , we come up on the Hog shack along the Fishman wharf , girlfriend know I love Beef ribs , so we stopped in for later lunch and early dinner , restaurant very quiet , only few young people around , very spacious and high ceiling , Covid guidelines well follow , all the tablets have barriers between them , menu just a BBQ restaurant menu , lot of choices ! price reasonable , we order the Jurassic Plate huge portion , every thing very tasty and tender , not too much BBQ sauce over power the meat , But I was surprised to taste the Beef Rib very dried like a piece of rubber , with my restaurant experience , ribs it is re - heat , (last nights ? ) and not much meat on it , very disappointing . but the backed beans excellent , for sure it is one of the best BBQ sauce I try , I do not mind come back to try the beef ribs again , and my girl friend love the Chicken and the pork ribs . we are too full to walk any more , nap time . so if you like Kansas BBQ , not a bad place to try

My son-in-law was keen for us to sample the delights of this restaurant as we're all avid carnivores! We picked the meal for four people which had a mouth-watering variety of cuts. We had to take a doggy-bag back with us as the amount of food was overwhelming. If you like your meat, this is the place to visit.
