Hot Pot that you can pick ingredients yourself, however they only offer one soup base with one flavour. Other hot pot places offering different soup styles with different flavours. They are not cheap but not overprice at all. Hope they can offer more flavour besides just the spicy levels. Otherwise it wouldn’t be worth to visit very often.
Great experience, great atmosphere. Everything was clean and fresh. It was slightly pricey…but their soup is scrumptious. Since they do individual bowls, I did enjoy the fact that two of us could go for hot pot instead of the usual 4 needed.
First of all, the girl who was working as a cashier was very rude. When it was time for us to pay, I noticed the screen that showed the price was in RMB currency symbol instead of CAD symbol, so I asked the staff was it in RMB or CAD and she gave me an eye roll and a rude demeanour. Let alone the food was overpriced. Thinking back to the situation, I realized that it’s very misunderstanding to the customers if the price is shown in RMB, and they didn’t even bother to explain when I asked. Never going back again!
I agree with other posts here. It can get a bit pricey here.. and the quality of ingredients aren't top notch. That being said, its pretty good here if you know how to pick your items. The soup is good and it comes with free rice..
good noodle soup place where you can custom-make your own bowl with a variety of ingredients and pay by weight. i wish there are higher quality ingredients though. and maybe another type of both instead of just one option for the broth.
I love grandma Liu’s hot pot when I dine in, but I ordered the set beef combo on Ubereats today and the soup was completely different! I asked for no spicy and no chili oil/pepper and the entire bowl was bright red. I was craving hot pot because I’ve dined in before and everything was great but I’m sad that my experience today was not great and up to my standards :(
Very clean location and food was fresh. The staff checked the vaccine card when entering and they all wear masks even in the kitchen. It's a good place if you don't eat any spicy food and your friends do because you have your own individual pot.
Very friendly service from the cashier. It’s a place where you pick your uncooked food in a bowl and then pay and they cook it for you. Overall the price is decent around $16 will fill you up if you don’t choose heavy items such as all beef etc. flavour is good but it has a unique kick to it. Not a bad thing just different. The spicy chilli oil option is very spicy even at mild so watch out. I do however do not eat spicy that much.
I like Grandma Liu so much, order frequently and even ordered from soft opening. But there is a bug in my soup today, a little bit disappointed.
The ma la tang soup was good. However the cost for what you get is extremely expensive. One bowl was $30 and the other was $25. Not much stuff inside the soup. The place was clean, but also small so if they’re busy you will have to wait outside. Overall, not worth the price.
