We discovered this place on a walk around the neighbourhood and followed our noses to the Ember Kitchen. We were warmly greeted and seated at a table overlooking the river. The garage style windows were open to let in fresh air. We love Indian food and have been disappointed by so many Indian restaurants. We’ve finally found some well prepared, good quality Indian dishes at reasonable prices. Service was professional, the food was nicely presented and flavourful, the washrooms were spotless.
We went there on a Friday night and even though the restaurant appeared to be quite full, and were seated right away. Servers were all masked and following Covid protocols even though the requirements have been relaxed. The food was very flavorful and delicious. My only comment was it was luke warm and likely sitting around for a few minutes after being prepared. Our server was very friendly. The owner Amir was graciously engaging in conversation and checking with all the patrons at each table. We also saw another server named Khalid that we love from his previous restaurant. Overall, it had a very friendly atmosphere. Decor was quite classy.Even though this was March and not patio weather, I'd highly recommend going there during summer as it has a large outdoor seating area, facing the water. We will be back!!
My wife and I love Indian food. We are from South Africa and grew up eating Indian food there as it is such a part of our culture. It was wonderful to find authentic Indian food around the corner from where we live. Ember Kitchen has always delivered on great food, tasty and unique and good service. We go back often and will keep doing so, we love it!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It has been around a few years and i heard about it but never had a chance to visit until today. Note that this is a restaurant although classified as indian but it has east african flavors. Note than many india s are born in african and have lived there for generations hence adopted the cooking style. The food is not spicy as a typical indian restaurant as spices used are different. Fish tilapia is very good and the price for the whole fish is very good value. I will now make it my regular place to go. The location is awesome and i like the decor. Good place to take out of town guests.
Awsome food n Awsome service.Definitely recommend to everyone come at this restaurant.
I discovered this magical place by mistake.Origanly going to pajos fish and chips at Gary point park .at lovely Steveston BC on the Fraser River.Unfortunately it was closed but the park was so busy I decided to back track the way I came on umber 3 road back along the river which is a lovely drive but I was determined to find a place to eat .On my drive I noticed this lovely modern resteraunt nestled on the River. It happened to be serving Indian but you wouldn't guess by the decor a large modern bright establishment with a large patio bordering on on the river board walk .The staff where very friendly and efficient .The menu had many Indian staples and some not like the meal I had African Barbecued chicken in a coconut cream sauce they ask you what heat level you want it came with lovely rice or Nan I had both the Nan was light and buttery .every thing was excellent and a large proportion my meal could of easily fed 2 with. Maybe an appetizer.I highly recommend this establishment .I surely will return with my friends and family.
This place has the best Indian/African food in the area . Service is outstanding. The room is beautiful and very comfortable . Prices are very reasonable .
Enjoyed the BBQ platter and the palak paneer. I could taste the spices in every bite! Very flavourful! Portions were generous, service was impressive and value for money was en pointe. Will be back to try the other entrees. The mango lassi is very creamy! Great job team Ember!Note: the ventilation could be improved, smoke from the kitchen grill reaches the dining area.
Dissapointed. Beautiful location. Food was less than mediocre. POrdered Chicken Tikka, that was overcooked, dry, with no added onions and flavor that should come with it. The Shahi Paneer was heavy in oil , extremely salty and not even close to traditional Shahi paneer from the color to taste. The only thing that was ok was the paneer pakora. The Naan was flat and bland. Overall waste of $50! Especially for the small portion
Second time ordering food and disappointed again. The first time we order from this restaurant the meat was undercooked and too much of oil. Ordered second time now to experience a similar issue. The beef ribs from the bbq platter were undercooked and not tasty at all. Never ordering from here again.
