Tried two winning dishes from 2021 ChineseRestaurantAwards Critic’s choice list at Bamboo Grove: “Abalone ginger and green onion hotpot” and “BC geoduck with scrambled egg.” The abalone hotpot was excellent - the abalone was cooked perfectly - tender and flavorful. The scrambled egg geoduck was ok. Separately, the scrambled egg was very good - but combined with geoduck, it does not enhance but rather covers the delicate flavor of the geoduck. In my opinion, it does not worth the $128 price for the dish. The abalone hotpot (with 4 pieces) costs $88 and needs to be preordered the day before.
Great food. Unique creative menu. Very reasonably priced. Small parking lot out back that’s always full, which I guess is a good thing.
The food is decent but the service from our waitress yesterday was extremely rude. It was brought up that there were certain things that a guest at the table does not eat and she made a snarky remark about that. Also, the waitress had a very strong accent so when a sauce she suggested for one of the dishes was misheard she got all snappy when it was clarified that she meant something else. People go to restaurants to enjoy food, not for bad attitude and unsolicited advice especially at that price point. The parking lot is also extremely tight with limited spots. Will never return again.
I can't be the only person who has not heard of this place but apparently I'm talking to my colleagues at dinner, this is an institution in Richmond with respect to Chinese dining. It's been here for three generations and continues to do excellent business. It's known for its traditional fair, fresh food and personable service. The selection is generally northern Chinese fare however it ranges throughout all of the Chinese palate. It's a bit hard to find as it's located on the main thorough fare but the entrance is actually backing out onto a lane. Selection of food was extensive on the menu and they have an extensive wine list interestingly and hard liquor availability. The owner was present tonight and spent a lot of time with us and represents the approachability and personality of the place which is fun and engaging and authentic. Definitely will come again and bring friends and family.
not sure if the price is correct... they use hand write only....when I ask for how much for lobster per ponds they refuse to tell me until i see the bill, a small lobster for $149 and a rock fish for $101... food is not bad but the way they display price is not comfortable
this restaurant is very old and not my kind of food ,but it will be for others if they like Canton food .Not very much parking and not that clean .
Very delicious product, and the attitude of the service staff makes the guests feel like they are at home. My friend and I like to come to this restaurant, the taste and service bring us happiness.
This place is pricey, but the food is absolutely amazing, you get what you paid for :)The stir fried B.C. geoduck with eggs is the boom ?
Good food. Good location.
Good food, good service for a traditional Hong Kong seafood restaurant. Must try their Cantonese soup if you’re a fan of Chinese soup.
