Love this pub, best view in the city and fun and hard working server Maggie, thanks for making me an awesome drink Grayson!
Check out the Dinghy Dock Pub when you are on the island. We sat out on the floating deck. There is a heatwave, but it was comfortable sitting outside - it was shaded and there was a cool ocean breeze. Fish and chips was a clear choice for me! The fish was in a light yet crispy batter. I had a couple of bites of the fish taco and that is also a scrumptious meal. Our server was attentive and friendly. I will be back.
Me and sister Aniki went for bday supper, as always was awsome thnks
Terrible TERRIBLE service here today. We arrived and it took a while to be seated, even longer to get our drink order in… but then it took OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF to get our food. Our server, Sarah, didn’t even acknowledge us during this whole time. It wasn’t until we asked a different server how much longer it would be- that she finally came out to let us know it would be at least another 15 mins. Took at least another 20 to get our food- which was incomplete - and Sarah said it would be another 10 mins for the missed plate- and then we noticed that two tables around us who had arrived over an hour after us, were also getting their food. We didn’t just get up and leave because we had 3 small children with us who were starving by this point- and when we told the server that we were not happy and that she clearly had forgotten to place our order - she didn’t even apologize and her response was “there was a mix up, that’s why I brought you some chips”. Needless to say, we won’t be going back and we will tell everyone we know about the terrible experience we had. If it wasn’t because we had to run to catch the ferry because we didn’t want to wait another hour there- I would have asked to speak to a manager and refused to pay the bill. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!
Kayaked to the Dingy Dock on a beautiful summer day. Tied up the kayaks at their private dock. Waitress quickly found us a table outside with shade. Wait staff were friendly and efficient. Our server Kim was very good. The fish tacos and the prawn salad were fantastic ! Very tasty with good portion sizes! A very pleasant and enjoyable lunch’ Well be back soon!
What a great experience. Taking a boat over to the restaurant was a unique experience for us. Food was good but service was slow.
On a very hot Tuesday evening we went to the pub for dinner. Due to a "computer issue" it took 2 hours for us to get our food. No visit from the manager. No offer for free appies or drinks. Only an apology from a very nice but over worked server on her 1st day working there. We ate our dinner very quickly so we could get the heck out of there and catch the next ferry back to Nanaimo. It would have been tolerable if they had some live music. Disappointing experience.
First of all, their location is probably one of the top 3 pub locations in Canada. We rented kayaks from Jeff's Kayak Rentals on Newcastle Island and after 3 hours of paddling around we came here for a drink and a bite. From there, this place only gets better. Prices are very fair considering where it is and the food is spectacular. The wings were light and flavorful and the tacos were delicious. My mother took me here many times as a child and let me tell you, as an adult this place is even better. They have live music and trivia nights along with super attentive staff. I also believe there is a ferry that goes from the Nanaimo Harbor to the pub, but I would suggest confirming with Google first. Overall this place is a Canadian gem.
Great place to be. View is fantastic. Food and drinks are great. Love the service there too. Must to go place in town. Can take kayak or paddle board for evening out there, best summer activities.
Perfect vacation mode pub! Friendly staff, good food and drinks. Short ferry ride from nanaimo harbor to get there. Keep cash to pay for the ferry ride
