Boca cafe was great. This requires a sweet tooth for the delicious Nanaimo bars. Ham & Swiss Sandwich was good too
Tragic cappuccino, carrot cake so sweet it gave me diabetes
We went two times because the mansion bars were so good. The flavored ones were amazing. Especially the salted caramel and blackberry lavender. I’m always on a quest for a good bar and they delivered!
We went to this small quaint place and were enquiring about gluten free food. We were instructed to the Nanaimo Bar. Okay, that was it. When enquiring about gluten free breakfast options nothing was offered. Strange experience, the 2 employees seemed uninterested in helping us, probably the reason they were empty. They are rated number 1 in Nanaimo for gluten free and wheat free options. It's written permanant - like on their sign. Not so much. Didn't even try the food.
I'm not sure if Bocca has changed owners in the recent past, but it doesn't seem to be as good as it once was. The variety of baked goods is no longer available. They used to carry different types of kish, banana breads pies and butter tarts. They do not carry them anymore. They only have 1 kish available. No tarts, pies, or breads. Minimal pastries. Infact is been probably since last fall since I've seen a butter tart or pie. The website still shows items they no longer carry. When ever I ask about the pies or tarts I get a different answer. I've found a different place downtown where I now frequent. Too bad as I once loved going to Bocca before.
Fabulous goodies, really good coffee and fabulous service. My husband Paul mentioned an item on his order was missing and the owner personally contacted him and went above and beyond to correct the oversight. Will definitely be back soon to try more delicious bakery treats and coffee!
Great Breakfast Bagels! Also the Nanaimo bar latte was pretty original. I would recommend stopping by here if you are in the area at around breakfast time.
If you're doing the Nanaimo Bar trail, there are quite a few on that list that are either closed or aren't worth the bother. Bocca however, is definitely in the top three when it comes to Nanaimo Bars. We tried their peanut butter nanaimo bar and also salted caramel... man where they good! Wish I'd grabbed more.
Excellent coffee and delicious Nanaimo Bars - as an out-of-towner I wasn't familiar with all of the variant recipes! The cozy and chill vibe of the cafe was also lovely, even on the cloudy day in March when I visited.
Second or third time disappointed with the Big Bocca cookie and their baked goods in general. Used to be awesome but have gone downhill. . Used to buy the Bocca cookie a few years back and they were great, chock full of nuts seeds AND chocolate. Now they have almost no nuts, few seeds and the teeniest morsels of chocolate but cost more than ever before at $5.25 (!) for a cookie of dough. very disappointing.
