***this is a long review*** We were excited to finally try Mr. A's Patio prime rib dinner buffet after having watched a YouTube review on it. First impression walking in was ok. Relaxing atmosphere, I especially liked the sunroom area. Food selection was just ok. I've been to less expensive buffets that had good food to compliment the theme of their buffet. The prime rib was not what I was expecting, the meat was tough and soggy at the same time. The ribs were also tough and requires a better knife to cut. They could both use a lot more seasoning (salt and pepper) and more color on them, they were quite pale. The side dishes were ok, the pasta and the salmon were the only ones I enjoyed eating. The salad selection is your basic Caesar salad and a mixed greens along with some other cold salads. The cheese plate consisted of white and yellow cheddar, some fruits and cold noodles on the side. The dessert area consisted of your basic square cakes, the only one that I thought was ok was the cheese cake, the rest were mousses that were starting to deflate. I noticed that in both the salad/cheese area and the dessert had fruit flies flying around them.To sum up my experience, I think I expected too much from a golf resort buffet.

Upon arriving, I quickly noticed the hostess at the front, she was extremely short with people. One lady didn’t have a reservation so she shooed her off to the side and just told her “that’s a problem”. She then rudely asked if anyone did have a reservation. Just had the attitude of someone who hated her job. After being seated, we noticed it wasn’t just her who hated her life. Other servers as well. The waitress we had, we only saw when she gave us our first glass of water and coffee, after that we had to flag her down multiple times for coffee and more water. Just feel like it’s something that should be asked if needed not always having to wave her down. The food was mostly decent, though when we arrived a lot of the food trays were empty, some were quickly replaced. After a bit of eating, we both started feeling kind of sick, no it wasn’t from eating too much, I wasn’t full and just couldn’t stomach the food anymore unfortunately. Eventually had to also ask for the bill and after asking for it, never had the debit machine brought over to pay- probably would have had to wave her down for that too, ended up just leaving cash. All in all, wasn’t the greatest experience and felt unwelcome. At the end we used the washrooms which looked like the needed some cleaning, also saw one of there water glasses in there on the floor sitting next to the toilet, how appetizing. There was however one young lady clearing tables, she seemed to be the nicest one there.

Great food! Especially considering it’s a buffet. Great service. Except, the girl today working the front area of the restaurant. The one wearing the green dress. She was rude to almost everyone I saw her speaking to while we waited. She was short with people. Condescending. If she doesn’t like the job, she should get one that she does. She made my wife u comfortable. She made the pregnant lady uncomfortable. The attitude is if you didn’t make a reservation then why are you even here and I wouldn’t bother waiting for a table because it could be hours and only if a reservation doesn’t show up. Anyway. All other staff were amazing. Decor. Atmosphere. Food. All amazing.

Had Sunday brunch, it was very good, lots of choices, omelet bar, waffle bar etc. Food trays were attended to continually so there was lots of food. The place was full, 2 rooms. We were with a large party of 18 that was easily accomodated and the staff was very attentive with bringing out drinks, clearing dishes etc. We got separate bills, which is not always the case when you have a big group, which was much appreciated. We will be back!

My friend and I drove all the way from Burnaby to the seafood buffet that was disappointing. For $38, the choices of seafood was limited and the quality was unsatisfactory. The cooked food was a bit bland, however the fresh shrimp and mussels were very fresh and tasted naturally sweet. Smoked salmon was alright. Clam chowder was watery and did not have much clam in it.There were no crabs or oysters. For a seafood buffey, that was pretty sad. The choices of dessert were small squares of tiramisu, cheesecake and lemon squares ....they were nothing to rave about. The service we had was good, our waitress was friendly and helpful.Unfortunately, we won't be returning unless there is a change of menu and selections.

Below-average food and TERRIBLE service. My family went here for Mother’s Day brunch and were incredibly disappointed. We weren’t expecting amazing food since it’s a buffet. While the selection was impressive, the execution was not. The food just didn’t taste good. The quality was some of the worst I’ve seen at a buffet and we’re not a group of picky eaters. Our server came around to see if we were all on one bill and then disappeared. She walked by 30 minutes later to tell us and another group that our bills were coming. We then waited another hour. We all stood up and put our coats on and still got ignored. Despite the long wait, we were quite friendly and understanding about the situation while finally getting the attention of our server. But then she was rude to us and claimed she didn’t know we wanted the bill. She finally decided to apologize when she brought the machine to pay. 2 hours of waiting and she didn’t even offer to take a coffee off the bill or anything. We would not return here.

The seafood buffet was disappointing. The cooked food didn't have much taste to it. But the fresh shrimp and mussels were very fresh and tasted naturally sweet. I definitely enjoyed those! Smoked salmon...need work. Clam chowder was watery and not much clam in it. Had some dessert - tiramisu, cheesecake and lemon squares....they were so-so. It was quite a trek to get there, so we're not sure we will go back, unfortunately. Hopefully they improve.

With everything opening up after the pandemic, I was scrambling to find a place that could hold my mothers surprise birthday party…Mr.A’s Patio Restaurant at Newlands is a place I’ve been to many times for events and they never fail to have a scrumptious food and never fail to deliver amazing service. We had the Oak room for our 50 person gathering, and the service was impeccable!! Sam was so friendly and helpful checking us in with our vaccine passes! Also, Melanie was our server in the room and took care of us so well. She was so attentive, professional, and thoughtful, and really made our guests feel welcomed and catered to! Thank you Melanie for making sure our event went smoothly!Overall, an amazing venue with professional staff. Would definitely recommend this place for your event!!
