A few levels above other Safeway stores! Generally clean, well stocked. The weekly offers in the meat department are very good. Ample parking outside and inside.
Most safe ways are pretty boring and bland and not that fresh with their fresh foods. However this location seems to do pretty good and was pretty impressive and the bonus was they actually have olive loaf in the deli! Still way overpriced for most things though.
I do like this place. Safeway Burquitlam Pharmacy staff have saved my life by helping me making Carecard number. It is great gem grocery store brand but though since they have reopened Safeway nearby my apartment, I have not been here recently.
This Safeway has underground parking. There is also a parking lot plaza next door (with the Dollarama). The pharmacy here is very knowledgeable and professional. Staff is diverse and friendly.Starbucks is located inside. There are escalators and the building is tall not wide. There is a large selection of local, organic and health supplies. Baby clothes and hats as well.Ready to eat food was impressive and they have a build your own sandwich/ panini ($6), roast beef, mash potatoes, salads, pastas, sides by weight, poke ($10), ramen, wonton soup bowls ($7) and sushi ($7-10)Pictured is a Tonkatsu ramen bowl. About 8 dollars. You microwave for 3 ish minutes.
It's nice and cool inside especially in the summer time. Most of the meat is expensive but great quality meat. Family for 4 looks good. You get a whole roasted chicken with 2 side dishes and 4 buns for 16.99. Not bad. They have weekly sales.
My husband went through the check out today and was charged too much for some prepackaged mushrooms. When he brought it to the attention of the cashier she had a staff member by the name of Jennifer check the price. She came back saying the price charged was correct which my husband knew she was wrong. He paid for the groceries then went to check himself and sure enough they charged him $5.79 instead of the $2.79 they should have charged. He went back to the cashier and told them and the same staff member challenged him again saying he was wrong so they both went back to check. My husband pointed out that she was checking the wrong product price which had a totally different packaging than what my husband had purchased. No apology from the staff member on being incorrect and my husband said she was rude from the start of the interaction right to when she knew she made a mistake.I had given up on shopping at this Safeway a long time ago because of a list of reasons but the top issue was poor customer service. Looks like the continued lack of customer service just lost another customer because the first thing he said when he got home is he will never shop there again. This place needs some serious customer service training and I would say a new manager because this has been an issue since the store opened.
Best SafewayGood fruit section and bakeryAlways good discounts on items throughout the store.Cashier was fast and courteous.
A safeway with so much potential and mostly great staff but a lack of proper management in the sandwich department which is such a standard at almost every safeway I've ever been to. Even this safeway before the newer version was rebuilt had a proper sandwich area. I've been coming to this safeway since I was a baby, my mom worked at this location her whole career up until the redevelopment. Most of the employees in the sandwich section will hide in the back and you will stand there for 5-10 minutes if someone even comes. Then you will select bread and meat, usually they never have any sliced bread options and are usually out of inventory most of the time. Sometimes even out of most meat options. The workers don't even seem to want to do the job as I've gone countless times in the past where they would close shop at 4 in the afternoon? It should be open until 7:00 on weekdays, they even went as far to lie to me to the point where I had to ask the management if the 4pm closer was true. This is not once but multiple times. Why do management and staff play games here? Is the management not treating their workers right? Are the current hired staff no capable of doing this sandwich department? There is many questions, and also why is there never any bread? No sliced multigrain or brown bread ever. Disappointment that these are the main shopping centers available to us nearby. If only smaller businesses had more room to compete because these larger businesses do not care it seems. Although the other safeway locations seem to care, I think it's just this specific location that has the problems. I hope they improve, but I will add the extra 10 minutes to my commute just to get a sandwich from the safeway on Austin.
Safeway on steroids. The good:* Ample parking available, like three times more than required.* Has everything you can find in a Safeway, then some.* Great flower section.* Booze section.* Whole Foods kinda section.* BigThe Bad:* It’s still a Safeway.* Produce can be a hit and miss, sometimes you think it’s the most gorgeous tomato selection you have ever seen, sometimes you can’t believe they tagged that thing as a tomato.
Love this place. All around it is better than most grocers. The bakery lady is super nice and she’s always happy when I see her. Treat your employees well. A lot of them deserve a raise!!!
