Ridiculously Expensive! Maybe this place was good 1 year ago but the food definitely does not equate to its proportion. Like a full order of spicy salmon sashimi is only a small plateful of salmon which can be purchased at many other Japanese restaurant for half it's price but same proportion. Service of place is decent. But prices on menu are just too overpriced for the quality of food that is served. Another example is Chicken yakitori is only 2 skewers for $12 where as in the market nearby in Coquitlam its only 7.99 or less for 2 skewers similar proportion. Taste is nothing too significantly astounding except being sweeter.
Quiet but nice spot for lunch. The place is clean and the wait staff are very nice and quick. I go mainly for their Spicy Korean Ramen when I'm in the.mood for Ramen. Their Agedashi Tofu is yummy too! Price is reasonable. From the looks of the other tables the portions of the other dishes are also a good size. Will definitely keep going back!
Good Sushi made with fresh ingredients. Beef Don tasted amazing...one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Coquitlam.
I have ordered take out from here a couple of times. While I find the food is tasty, I always have to make substitutions as I have a fish allergy. I ordered from a take out menu I had recently picked up. I ordered a dynamite roll and asked for an extra deep fried prawn instead of the fake crab meat and I substituted the avocado for cucumber to offset the cost of the extra prawn. Regardless, when I picked up my order the total was more than I had anticipated as they had raised their menu prices. I let that slide as I realize food costs have gone up but I was also told I would be charged an extra $1 per roll in the future as the dynamite prawn is more expensive. I found this unacceptable as I thought I was being fair in the substitutions I had made. There are many other Japanese restaurants around so I will be finding a new restaurant that won’t nickel and dime me to death and can accommodate my food allergies.
I had the spicy chicken karaage and it was not spicy at all, but rather sweet. Could not really taste the chicken itself because of how much sweet sauce there was. On the upside the takoyaki here has the most octopus out of any other Japanese place I've been to.
I love Mika Sushi, the food is always so delicious. Every time I go, I leave happy. The Chicken Karaage and the spicy salmon roll are my all time favourites. I don’t order from anywhere else anymore. The Staff are always pleasant and friendly. Small restaurant but a real Gem! Great Work Mika Sushi!
We have ordered take out about 3 times in the past few months and everytime we are impressed with the food. I love all the sushi and rolls I've gotten. Fresh and the rice is good, not too mushy or overly ricey. My husband does not eat sushi and has instead really enjoyed the sukiyaki don which is very affordable too. The tempura is sooo fresh and light and crispy even after driving home - this is so rare with tempura!! (We recently ordered from another place just because they were on Uber and it was so not good. Left a bad sushi feeling. Wish I had instead just ordered Mika again instead!) We will happily continue to order from here.
Friendly staff but portion was on the small side and pricing a bit higher than competitorsUnagi don was 18$ that comes in a really tiny lunch box. It was good but it did not fill me up at all.The spider roll was good size but it was filled with crab meat with very little soft shell crab. Also had a bit of ocean water tasteThe Aburi salmon oshi had good flavour but majority is rice with a small piece of salmon on top. Many other places will also put salmon in the middle.Spicy salmon roll was good and decent sizeIn the end my bill came to a total of almost $60 for two peopleI gave it three stars as there are many competitors in the area. Sushi California for example provides fresh and large portion sushi while tasting great at a more affordable price. I spent $40 there for two people and it was more than enoughI wouldn’t go back as I can get better quality sushi elsewhere with better pricing
