I've been coming here for over 5 years, and their food has always been delicious! Service is decent, take out is really fast and on time! Only a couple of times there has been minor issues, so 2 out of 400 is pretty good imo.*Their fresh BBQ pork is amazing*(in-restaurant only)
absolutely terrible food. in 30 years buying Hon's it has gone way down hill.
My family has been going to Hon's for the last 20 years and have loved their food. We are vegetarian, and they make any dish on the menu vegetarian-friendly. However, we recently had a very negative experience. We ordered take-out and as per usual, asked everything to be made vegetarian. We picked up the order and when we got home, we opened up the sweet and sour pork and realized it wasn't tofu as it looked different and then when we tasted it, we confirmed it was real pork. We called the restaurant and they agreed to deliver the vegetarian pork dish but we would have to give them back the original pork they gave us. When the delivery guy arrived, he gave us the new dish then immediately opened the old one and started saying how we ate so much of it and how it wasn't real pork (without a mask on as well). We tried explaining how there were a couple missing as we had each tried one to taste test it and how we know it is real pork but he was quite aggressive and kept repeating "it's not real pork" and wouldn't let us speak. He then said he cannot give us the new dish as the original one is vegetarian. He took back the vegetarian pork he had brought and drove away. We were extremely frustrated and when we called the following day, it took me 4 times calling Hon's and explaining the situation before I was able to speak to a manager, who then told me all they could do is refund me for the dish, IF I brought the pork dish back to the restaurant (it was 3 days later at this point) and they then determined it was real pork. I was shocked at how they still insisted on fact-checking me and it was only once I told them we have been loyal customers who were never returning and that I would write this review, that the manager offered to put credit on my account and finally gave an apology as well. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Have been eating here and the other locations for as long as I can remember. A Vancouver/Lower Mainland staple (according to my family.) Being vegan in the more recent years, I’ve been happy to continue to enjoy many dishes I once loved with a vegetarian flare. Like the sweet and sour “pork.” Or was it chikn? Whatever it was- delicious. And Potstickers: pan-fried, both sides. I haven’t had something I don’t like
I have been going to this restaurant for 13 years.I'm very very Happy with the food. The price is reasonable.Service is fast.Located in a safe area of Coquitlam.Lots of free parking. It's well lighted inside. It's clean.Accessible to public transportation. This is one of my happy places.
The staff answered what had to be 204 questions about various dishes and didn't allow themselves to get rude nor short with us which often happens when you're an indecisive food ester! The take-out order came in under the time they says, got home and the food was hot, fresh and very tasty!
We bought one whole soy chicken today, and behind us there was another customer who was waiting for his change. The waitress/cashier opened the cash register and gave him the change. Unfortunately she dropped the change and used her gloved hands to pick up the change from the floor and gave it to the customer. She then helped the butcher with my order and put the condiments in the container with the soy chicken in it without changing her gloves.Once I mentioned that she needed to change her gloved hands before she touched the soy chicken that we bought, she seemed unpleasant and kept doing it.
Love love love their wonton soup with #2 noodle. Had some salted squid too yum ??

After 25 years of being Hon’s restaurant fans, I’m sad to say they just lost us as customers. We always order the Curry Beef Brisket with Potatoes and we did tonight - for the first time in all these years it arrived much darker in colour with no potatoes (the tastiest part!). We questioned it, they say they ran out so we tried to be good sports and accepted the dish anyways. After tasting it we found the beef, which has always been super tender, to be really tough and chewy. Maybe they had scraped out the bottom of the pot and served it to us? We had to send the dish back, it was really bad…the waitress apologized and accepted it back. When we went to pay, the curry was still on our bill - we reminded her that we didn’t get to eat it. She asked if we would just accept a discount on it instead of her taking it off the bill. What? She offered us a $3 discount on a $13.99 dish that we could not eat. We were so sad - after all the years of good memories at Hon’s - to receive such poor and unreasonable customer service! We want to warn others before they get treated poorly too. Do not eat at the Coquitlam location because their service and quality have gone way down. Take your money elsewhere!
