Went for the dinner buffet tonight. Fried chicken was rotten. I cut it open with my knife and before I can take a bite I was able to smell the foulness of the spoiled meat. Person sitting across the table from me could smell it as well. When the server came by I quietly told her that the chicken was rotten. She apologized and said will let the kitchen know. When I went to pay the bill, I was hoping for some sort of compensation whether it be a refund or a gift card, no such luck. Paid regular price and walked out. So that's that.
It's been a while since I've been here. This used to be a good bang for buck restaurant. Before, soft drinks were included in the price of the buffet, but that is no longer the case, and on top of that prices have gone up.The staff are friendly and did a good job of checking in on you and clearing out plates and bringing out new ones. The restaurant interior is very nice with plenty of seating.Having said that, the rest of the experience wasn't that great. First of all, everything was sticky: the tables, and the food scoopers. The selection of the food was not as much as it used to be. There was an entire row of buffet trays that were empty. There was as many hot food items as there were dessert items. You have only the basics, which is fine if they tasted really good. But unfortunately the food was lackluster. Maybe they've been soaking there for too long, but the wontons were completely tasteless. The "fried rice", might as well been plain white rice. The fried items: fries, chicken nuggets and spring rolls were fine. The chow mein and rice noodles were bland. The Chinese BBQ pork was probably their best highlight. There is a nice selection of ice cream though.Of the Mandarin Garden's in the Fraser Valley, I'd stick with the one in Abbotsford.
Sweet and sour pork was extremely bland. Chicken chow mein also had no flavor. However pork sizes were decent and tender.
Being blunt, this isn't a place to go for fine dining. ~$17 gets you in the door, ~$20 if you also want a bottomless drink. The hot food will mostly be fresh, and the staff is friendly.
Not bad but not the greatest went there 2 times since it opened again and both times no fried rice or chowmein. Very disappointed for the price
Average Chinese food, $20 per head for dinner buffet. Not bad for what it is, not fancy, basic but okay. Don't like plastic water glasses though...unhygienic.
Quite dissatisfactory for the price of $23. The beans were not fresh, and limp. Noodles quite burnt and dry. Barely any beef in the broccoli. Overall just very unsatisfactory, if you ask me. Mind you, we were there by 6:30. So at the tail end of supper? But still not an excuse, imo.Lots of seating and the ambience was alright, however.
In all honesty, this restaurant is the only one that didn't get greedy during the pandemic. Excellent prices, not like competition in Chilliwack. The food is always consistent. Good place to eat in or order out from and the wor wonton will keep me going back lol.
Love the buffet here both lunch and dinner. So many choices. Makes a nice family meet spot. Plus the staff are very friendly. Have senior prices too.
Imagine being a buffet style restaurant, That everyone obviously goes to for the buffet. Then imagine not offering the buffet for a prolonged period of time, way beyond a necessary and reasonable amount of time. But then your still open for takeout... a buffet not open for its main purpose but a useless purpose that literally no one wants or will use. Talk about having literally 0 business sense. Stop making excuses get your $#!T together and open your restaurant properly. Its really not hard and especially with literally 0 covid regulations at the moment. Get a sign that kindly asks customers to consider a mask, put some hand sanitizing stations around. Provide customers with their own means of collecting food from the buffet(A ladle, Spoon, Tongs ect) so that there is no sharing the same utensils between customers. Sanitize surfaces a little more frequently. Wow i literally just did your job for you. Look how insanely hard it was.
