We have eaten here many times over the years. The most recent time we were so impressed by the food and presentation. Tender chicken skewers. Amazing hummus. Friendly service. Bit pricey but all restaurants have increased prices recently.
Delicious and fresh food.A bit on the pricey side but a must try.Good quantity.Excellent service.
The most bizarre experience for my first and last visit to Vassilis. The poorly lit, hoarder, grandpa basement decor is so extremely kitschy, it's almost amusing. My wife asked for a wine menu which the waitress left and then disappeared for 20 minutes. House wine was the only non bottled option. The 20 minute wait left us plenty of time to read reviews, so we knew to review the bill at the end. Sure enough, the waitress had added a more expensive chicken dinner for my vegetarian wife who of course had ordered a veggie dinner. While seated near the entrance, we watched the super old, very grumpy owner seating people. We observed him treat all non white customers much grumpier and even went from 0-100 instantly screaming at POC couple after they asked a question about the vax process while showing their cards. He yelled at them all the way to their table! (I was surprised they stayed. We were ready to follow them out). This guy should not be in any customer facing job!So my Roast Lamb dinner comes ($30 meal... had to pay extra for Pita and then they bring 1 !?). Ok, so we go to a lot of Greek restaurants. Last week we coincidentally had discussed that we have either been lucky, or otherwise it's almost impossible to mess up Greek food. Vassilis: "Hold my Beer!" wow. THE WORST GREEK FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!! As a meat lover, it says a lot that greek salad is always my favorite part of the meal. There was no dressing, no seasoning, just raw veggies! Pitted Olives are something I can't remember seeing at a restaurant before and there was at Most 1/2 teaspoon of Feta. Needless to say it went to the trash. The rice was crunchy like it has been scraped from the bottom of a pot and had little flavour. The Lamb was overcooked and had never been within 6 feet of a salt, spice or other flavour. Bland Lamb? wow.We ate the bland food as fast as we could and got the heck out of there after they fixed the bill. Note: This is the first bad review I have written. Hopefully if you do insist on going, you have a better experience!
I was hesitant to book due to mixed reviews of the food and service. Party of 6 for NYE. Service was great with Yulanta. Food was very good, lamb roast tender and not overly salty. Huge portion for the platter for 2 which could really serve 4 people. It was a wonderful evening. My only deduction is that it was a little pricey but for NYE, understandably, there was a mark-up and be prepared for slow service. However, we expected that and had a great time. The kitsch decor is really fun.
Stopped in for takeout this evening on my way home. Last time I ate here was in 2019.The food was good and the portions were just right. Souvlaki skewers were sizeable and nicely seasoned and the sides were flavourful. Was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes on the phone, ended up waiting 40 for the food. So that wasn't great. The owner seemed friendly, noticed that I'd been waiting awhile, and went to find my order without being asked.Small mixup dealt with and I enjoyed my meal. I'll come by again.
Been a few tines over a number of years and food is always great but service seems to be getting slower and slower over time we are waiting 45 minutes just for appetizerAlways seems to be only 1 person serving ,Usually would never write a post like this but maybe we can save someone!! some time to avoid this place and go somewhere else especially if you are hungry ?
The decor and vibe in this restaurant is amazing! Especially if you come in for dinner when they turn on the lights, it’s very romantic and feels like having the dinner in Greece. The food are in large portion except for the appetizers. The prawn we order from appetizer section is such small portion which only has 8 small prawns and costs $16. However the main dishes are decent. Although it costs nearly $30 for each main dish, they taste good and in good size. The server was very busy handling orders and everything for almost all the tables in the entire restaurant so just be patient and plan ahead if you’re in a hurry.
Disappointed. Tzakiki was meh, chicken souvlaki was dry, and the salad tasted old
Very good and amazing food the place is amazing I never thought it would be this beautiful we enjoyed and for sure coming back
I should of read the reviews before picking this restaurant .Upon entering the restaurant we were not asked to show our vaccination passport even though we had our phones in hand or Identification. Friends came in shortly after to join and they where asked for there’s. Waitress we had was very ,very good, Food was delicious and we were enjoying a evening out. While we were waiting for our bill to pay that had not been presented to us ,the owner was very abrupt and started yelling that they’re closed and to get out. The waitresses apologized and after we settled our bill ,the manager came back as we where putting on our jackets shoving chairs around and slamming doors. I will not go back and I encourage you to stay away as well.
