once of few authentic Japanese-owned and operated sushi bars. A bit pricier but you get what you pay for. The rice and fish quality is far superior to your average neighborhood sushi joints that prioritize size over taste (and those joints are almost as expensive now too). We love their deluxe assorted nigiri set for a good value omakase style dinner.
This place was one of the first authentic Japanese sushi restaurants to open up in North Burnaby with decent quality. Been coming here since it opened. Love supporting a mom-and-pop local business.I know the prices are a bit on the higher side for the amount of sushi you get, but it is definitely all about the quality.Have tried all their sushi here and you can't go wrong!
They are only doing takeout right now so make sure to call in to order ahead. We made the mistake on ordering at the restaurant (didn’t know they were not doing dine-in) so had to wait in the cold for half an hour. By around 5pm, the wait for takeout was an hour. Ordered the Deluxe Nigiri ($31), Assorted Nigiri ($19) and Kilala House Roll (full roll for $15). Food was delicious and fresh. Definitely a neighborhood gem.
Authentic Japanese restaurant in Burnaby. Ordered salmon don, dynamite roll, and deluxe nigiri special. Everything was so fresh!
Not the easiest place to park and get to but the sushi is really good. Their unatama and spicy salmon roll was fantastic. Their house roll has smoke salmon on top which I’m not really a fan of but I’m sure there are people out there that enjoy it. Lovely family-run business. Heard the lease is up soon and they are unsure of what the future holds so get down and get some sushi!
Lovely place run by a couple - both food and service was amazing. Had their deluxe nigiri set and it did not disappoint. Echoing what other reviewers said - order a side of the Tamago Nigiri... You won't regret it!
We love ordering sushi from Kilala. Their sushi is always fresh, and the owners are super friendly. I like how they never mess up takeout orders by giving you the wrong items.
This place is a hidden gem. I ordered takeout from Kilala a number of times already. Their sashimi and nigiri were always fresh. The owner was very nice. I enjoyed their sushi a lot!
This place is a gem! I was looking for some sushi for takeout when I left Vancouver. I found this place on google and decided to give it a try. The restaurant does take out only due to the COVID situation. I ordered a 10 pieces nigiri combo, futomaki roll, 5 pieces nigiri & unagi battera. They are delicious! The price is very reasonable (around $75 I think?) as the nigiri combo includes uni, ama ebi, and ikura. If I go back to Vancouver I will definitely come back again.
Got takeout here on a Thursday. Order was via phone and parking is limited since it’s a busy street alongside Hastings.I was excited to go here because my friend had excellent reviews. However upon trying to pay, their card machine froze. 10 minutes later (multiple tap, insert, swipe attempts) she said I could take the food and pay the next day if I lived near there. I don’t live close so I had to drive to the TD to get cash. I literally drove to a bank, drove back, parked and paid the full price. The house roll was huge (size of my palm) and 80% was rice noodles. The avocado was oxidized and the piece fell apart due to the size. I still had to pay full price (no discount for my trouble or free food). After eating it my stomach didn’t feel too good (a bit nauseous) and the sushi didn’t taste that good. Green leaf is better.Overall not a good experience, I feel bad because the owners are nice.
