Exellent coffee! While the small cookies in a jar were not sweet and delicious, the certain sweet cakes were so cute but not fresh. They tasted completely different from the name they explained, and even the cream tasted old.But I think we will be back for great coffee^^
The cakes are fresh and tasty. They have different kinds of coffees and these are all good quality.Only one thing, I didn’t like to be rushed when I chose my order. At that time, no ones lined up and it was my first visit, I needed a moment to select cakes since everything looked delicious.Overall, staff were friendly and nice. Clean and relaxing environment. I enjoyed spending time here.FYI: I don’t recommend users to stop at the supermarket next door on your way to the coffee shop. The staff’s behavior and groceries are both bad.
On lower level of plaza, tucked away at the very end of the row of businesses. (To the far right of the grocery store.) Cozy and friendly ambiance. Interesting, eclectic decor and soft lighting. Enjoyed chai rooibos tea & cookie.
Lovely little gem hidden in the hood.Great coffee and desserts.Quiet and warm atmosphere.
I wanted to give this place a few tries over 3 years before actually rating this. Previously I would have given this place 4 stars for coffee alone despite it being overpriced as many have resonated. But over the years, the standard has ---DROPPED--- and along with it a drop in their overall review rating as apparent on their Google Reviews and customer traffic as I have witnessed in my sporadic visits. This is the coffee shop that has space when all the nearby ones are full- and for very good reasons.First off, their pastry has never been good for as long as I remember. From the first visit, a couple years back, I ordered an earl gray shortbread cookie. Very bland given it is shortbread. No satisfying richness as one would expect- Very disappointing. I suspect that the main purpose of their pastries is to be decorative? Yet, it is perplexing since they also place dehydrated looking cakes in their storefront fridge. It is the first time that I have seen such "wilting" cakes relentlessly making a presence every sporadic visit. On another occassion, I ordered a walnut pie half a year ago and yes, never ordered again. To be exact, it was more of a tart than a pie so somewhat of a misnomer. The point is ***Save your money!!!** Almost $10 but Not sweet at all. In fact, tried to "fix it" by adding packets of brown sugar and dipping it into their very sweet honey latte. The tart is dry and can only be eaten separate from the walnut layer because they fall apart from one another. The flavour does not complement each other the way that even a McDonald's pastry manages to. To be honest, I am really curious and amazed at the recipe they use. Very curious at how they managed to make a nutty pastry- so potentially rich and satisfying- so unappetizing and bland. Thanks to their tart I have gained the eye-opening experience of what edible dry cardboard would actually taste like. Perhaps the intent goes back to the idea of preserving their pastry decoration. Less fat content= less likelihood of going rancid. Similarly, tried another pastry- the matcha cookie on 2 occasions. The matcha cookie was a better choice. The first time I ordered it, it was thick, chunky and chewy. This recent time, it was very thin...slightly thinner than their coffee sleeve and very intensely sweet. As for their coffee, it has been a hit and miss. Sometimes alright, sometimes overly sweet. The service has also been very brash. Though they are well capable of developing signs for no outside food, they choose not to do this for their minimum charge or order expectation. I am fine if they told us at the point of order that they expect that we order one item each for 2 people rather than sharing something. The cashier rudely told us this with a frown after we paid and was picking up our order. Had I known, I would have saved tipping them, which I did to support independent cafes such as them in hard COVID times. It is again very perplexing why they expect all customers to be telepathic on their expectations on how to order. The UNWRITTEN expectation is one coffee/pastry per person. My friend did not get a coffee because they got one earlier elsewhere, but I had wanted one. If this expectation was written, I would have gone to nearby coffee shops that are much more respectful and with better pastry options. With my friend not wanting a coffee/drink, there really was no choice. Afterall, I could not bear to see a friend waste their money and eat up cardboard for my desire for a coffee that I could easily purchase anywhere else nearby.Until better reviews show up or there is a change, I am not going to consider this a viable coffee shop on my list anymore. Let's see how long this Egg stands as they maintain this level of "quality".
The drinks are great. Sadly no gluten free options. The food looks good though and is charming. Great sitting area and conversational space. Quality coffee.
One of the nicer cafes in lougheed. Although drinks and pastries are quite overpriced averaging ~$7 per drink. Drinks are good, but would not come regularly as it is expensive. Ambiance and seating is excellent! Staff is a bit strange though, felt pressured to order by the female worker working there today when we were looking at the menu.
I came here a few times now and I have mixed feelings about this cafe. The drink quality is great, overall environment is cozy, and seating is set up well too. BUT, the owner or employee there always has an attitude. One day she pressured my partner and I to order when there is no line at all and another time when I asked what a drink was she answered with an attitude. This is two unpleasant instances from many. I really wish they would hire another barista because everything about the cafe is perfect except her.
A nice cafe in a tucked away spot. It’s nice and roomy inside and the menu has a lot of offerings. Their pastry selection is vast and you might have a tough time choosing!I grabbed a large latte and the lemon tart. Both were a great way to start the morning right! The atmosphere was really nice to sit and study, read a book, or chat with a bunch of friends!
I usually come here for their ambiance. Love how they decorated the place. Very reminiscent of all those trendy cafes in Korea.
