Not your parent's Vietnamese joint... Pho Den is far from the dark hole-in-the-wall pho joints that used to permeate the landscape. Inside, you'll find a bright and spacious area.I tried the Bun Bo Hue on my first visit. While not the biggest portion size, the flavours were pretty good. I liked that they gave you the option for either raw or cooked bean sprouts as some people don't like raw.Next visit I tried the grilled chicken vermicelli with spring roll. I would have preferred spring rolls made with rice paper wrappers but that's probably just my personal preference. While I didn't think there was anything too special about this dish, I did like the use of fresh herbs.Overall, food is ok and the interior is nice. Good casual place to chill. Parking can be an issue as the parking lot is often filled with customers from the Chinese restaurant next door.
Vietnamese food has always been one of the most prolific ethnic cuisine in N. America and it has gain the status of being accepted as the "Universal" Soul Food!Having a pipping hot bowl of Pho is almost a must for any cool rainy nights or a chilly afternoons!! And of course you know what I am talking about .. ( the unofficial cure for hang-overs!! )The latest entry of Pho Restaurant on Vancouver's ever busy Kingsway, offers a sanctuary of calm & relaxing ambience, once you are in, you will forget about the heavy traffic of Kingsway!Greeted by very friendly staffs & after performing the Covid protocols, we were offered a cozy booth in a private enclave! Our choices ..H1 : Hu Tieu with Egg Noodles .. 5/5 starsA very tasty & light chicken & pork broth accompanied with Pork Slices, Prawns, Squid, Fish Ball and Crab Cakes. We had a choice of either thick or thin noodles, since we wish to try the Chef's noodles cooking techniques we opted for the thin ones .. it came out perfectly al dente!! This will be one of my regular items as I find it to be both light and still fulfilling!!P1 : Pho Dac Biet .. 4 / 5Again the soup was pipping hot and the Pho noodles were also cooked al dente! But the broth needs some adjustment to the seasoning .. maybe an extra onion to bring out the sweetness of the beef bone etc.?Otherwise it is a solid bowl of Pho with lots of good quality beef! At $12.75 (one size only) it is for sure one of the best value in town!!B7 : Peach Black Tea 4 / 5Love the combination of refreshing peach flavour & black tea the addition of coffee jello adds an extra dimension and a tad of bitterness!!G6 : Passion Fruit Green Tea 4 /5A sucker for anything Passion Fruit .. the addition of coconut jello makes this the ultimate tropical drink!!All in all, this is a very good location and the decor makes it even more a reason to come!! I am sure, as time goes, they will expand even more on their menu and especially the Appetizer section!!Hint : maybe add Vietnamese style wings!!Wishing the owners all the Best Wishes for their successful business!!
Thank you Yelp Elite for giving me the chance to come here for the experience! Come check out Yelp guys! Thank you to our CM Eric for organising the event hopefully he has a little a break from all of these. Thank you so much for the bottle openner, the pin and the reusable bubble tea straw because it finally changed frok the umbrella and the hand sanitizer hahahh. The reusable bubbpe tea straw is something very useful to use since i hate paper straw so much. Thank you Yelp for reading my mind. Thank you for giving 2 entrees and 2 beverages for the invitation. Gladly i could bring someone else along with me, so i wont have to feel lonely. This is a great concept so that people wont have to be alone eating here.Anyway, for the review, thank you for the wonderful service that Pho Den has given us. Super nice and super neat. Love the ambience of the place and how great and neat how the dishes were presented. We got the vermicelli and the pho and extra of the salad roll and the vietnamese coffee. I personally think the vietnamese coffee is regular like other viet restaurant as well as the salad roll. The pho was good but the noodles were quite sticky maybe should be cooked a little bit longer but other than that it was good. The vermicelli is the star dish of the experience. All the meat, the sauce and the vermicelli was super good. This is very recommended so make sure you come here to get this. Cheers! I hope this feedback helps!
Came with my parents and sister to try out this new place. Atmosphere was fantastic and it was super spacious. Our server let us know they didn’t have a paper menu and unfortunately my parents can’t read English. The entire menu was in English and no Vietnamese. We got the milk tea with coffee jelly and it was good. Then we had complimentary soup which was the pho broth with added herbs on top. It was too salty. My mom got the bun Bo hue and it wasn’t authentic. There was not enough ingredients and use only got one small halved beef ball?I ordered the pork chop and chicken on vermicelli. the pork chop was actually really tender and flavourful. But the portion was quite small, even though it’s served on a giant plate. The pork patty wasn’t made in house so overall the experience was nice. But it wasn’t authentic enough to impress the family. I’d come back with friends though.
A very cozy place with delicious food and drinks. Pho is hearty and I loved the texture of noodles. The space is bright and welcoming. Unlike many Vietnamese restaurants, Pho Den has comfortable seatings and relaxing atmosphere. They also make their own condensed milk for coffee and bread in house! Definitely try it out!
Food is authentic and, most importantly, not flooded with MSG like other places. Soup base is rich and flavourful, and noodles stay chewy and not soft and soggy by the time you get to the end of your bowl! My new daily place for Pho!Bun Bo Hue (BBH) soup has just enough spice and flavour and the rice/vermicelli dishes have meat that cover the entire portion of noodles/rice so you don't end up with just a bowl of rice. Portion size is good that it leaves just enough room so I can have an appetizer and price is rightly proportional.Their extra strong coffee is super.. super strong and super flavourful. Just don't have it at dinner unless you're like me and can have a coffee before bed.
Great atmosphere! The restaurant exudes a traditional ambience with a modern twist that works great. Came on the grand opening day and the place was very busy. The staff seemed like they were on top of it. The fella that served us was very hospitable and polite. Good service. The food was delicious. I had the Bun Bo Hue, the noodles were perfect. I hate places that serve overly cooked/soggy noodles. The broth was on spot on full of NON MSG laden flavour. All in all the food and dining experience was well above your standard pho joint. I will definitely be coming back again. Keep up the great work Pho Den Team!
This modern, minimalistic Vietnamese restaurant will make you feel at home with its delicious pho and appetizers. Try the crispy/fried wontons, the springs rolls, Vietnamese coffee, and the bun bo hue. The clear broth is flavourful and I didn't taste any MSG. The Vietnamese coffee (regular) is fantastic, but it is very strong. This is my warning to all of you non-caffeine drinkers! The service is also great. The staff members were patient, genuinely kind, and attentive. Good luck to the Phở đến staff with their grand opening!
New pho place in Burnaby! It’s a ~5 minute drive from Highgate village. Plenty of parking in the parking lot, and there is residential street side parking nearby. Just a heads up if you’re visiting on a Sunday afternoon since there’s a big church down the street, and it can get a bit crowded during peak lunch hour. Love the aesthetics of the place. It’s comfortable and not too upscale, but still has some nice décor complete with neon lights, wood accents, and bright blue booths. I really liked the booths because it gives you privacy, and it’s a great way to socially distance to some extent. My order:Bun Bo Hue ($13): I liked their broth, it isn’t too spicy but it’s very rich in flavour. Lots of noodles too! Comes with some meat slices and 2 handmade meatballs.Deep Fried Wontons ($8.75): Tastes like a pork wonton, and it’s nice and crispy. Served with a side of dipping sauce.Pork Spring Rolls ($5): Loaded with meat, and it’s deep fried to a nice golden brown with a good crunch. Eat it while it’s hot!Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($5): Super strong Viet iced coffee. Served in a plastic cup with ice, but I’m not sure it is available in the traditional drip style. You can’t go wrong with this drink if you’re a coffee lover.Overall, it’s a comfortable dining experience at a pretty good price point. Staff are very friendly too.
A good and cozy decoration place. We order 2 dishes: the rice with chicken&fried egg and pho sate. The pho sate is somehow acceptable, not too good but it quite spicy. The rice was put in the very big bowl but just small portion, looked quite blame (unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of it).Overall, with the price and good atmosphere like this, the food should be better. Hope the restaurant would improve as they just open ☺️
