Disappointing. Save your money and boil some nori water with some store-bought ramen at home. It'll taste the same. Remember not to add any salt, cause god forbid there be any flavour in the ramen. The only positive here was the egg, which was perfectly soft-boiled and had just the right amount of runniness on the inside.Apart from the food, the service here is quick and the servers are great. Note that the lines get a bit long here so expect a bit of a wait.
I came here numerous times and remembered the broth to be one of the “best” ramen places I’ve been too. But last visit it seemed the quality has definitely gone down. The pan fried dumplings were delicious and juicy, menu is limited, and the ramen came with very little toppings. I brought my two young boys and a family of 4 our bill came to over $80!
I like Marutama ramen more than a lot of the other ramen places. Came here for lunch on a weekday and ordered the tamago ramen. It was good and up to standard with past meals I've had at other Marutama locations. The noodles are a good chewiness, the broth is delicious, they provide dried garlic and chili flakes on the table, the egg is good. The only thing I'd say is that the aosa seaweed looked a little pale and not the same as it usually does, maybe there's just some inconsistency in the look of it but otherwise this is great.
The noodle was very well cooked ! Not too soft or not chewy. The soup was perfectly tasty without being too salty. Pork belly, and dumpling are good. Defiantly would recommend it !
Whenever I drove by this restaurant, I always saw a queue outside which made me curious to the point of trying it out. I'll start with the positives - the servers are polite, COVID protocols are being followed, and food didn't take long. Now moving to the negatives - the menu is very limited, the broth is not flavourful and the meat was cold. I don't like to be Negative Nancy, but I'm not too sure what the hype is all about? I've had Ramen a couple of times before but this is by far the most disappointing experience I've had.My recommendation to them would be to put soy sauce, flavoring sauce, chili oil/sauce on the tables so that everyone can customize their orders once it's on the table. This way we don't have to call on servers again and again for all this which would help with a better experience.
Our first experience with Marutama was at the location Westend and it was flawless! We tried to dine in at this location 2 times and both of the time the experience was not good. We did not get asked what hardness level of the noodle we wanted, the other location did. On top of that, the meat was cold and dried, it felt like the meat just came straight out of freezer ☹️The saving point is the eggs were always made really well!
Ramen is absolutely delicious! They give a generous amount of chashu. The broth has a strong chicken flavor, while managing to be light and not oily. Servers were very nice
The ramen here is great. I love the egg and the chicken creamy broth, perfect for a cold winter's day. We ordered the Cha-shu Tamago Ramen and the Aosa Ramen.I was quite uncomfortable in the restaurant though because the tables were very close together and no plexiglass divider.
The broth is so creamy and delicious, it just makes you feel good on a cold day. The crew is very friendly and quick to serve. The topping available are great.
Marutama serves various Ramen Noodle Soups. They are a Japanese chain restaurant with several locations in Greater Vancouver as well. Every time we passed by the Metrotown location during lunch and dinner hours, there are always huge lineups. The restaurant itself is quite small so we recommend going there during off-peak hours or get takeout. Check out the Marutama Metrotown Ramen restaurant review below!
