The only thing I can say that needs improvement is that it needs to be open more! I ordered the Chirashi Don which was probably the best I've had in Vancouver so far! Highly recommend this place. Japanese run.

A decent hole in the wall sushi place with good quality sushi that’s not too expensive. However, the service (even if you’re the only table) is apathetic and lethargic at best. Their online menu is only available on their instagram page, which requires you to have an instagram account in order to view it. All in all, the food is good, everything else is lacking.

I'm glad they had a sandwich board out as it blends in with the businesses either side. Typical open layout with the chefs to one side. Bright & clean looking. The takoyaki was quite nice. Slightly crisp on the outside & fluffy inside. The tuna, salmon, & saba nigiri were a little bland and the rice fell apart quite quickly. Also the saba was very lightly picked and I prefer it stronger. The crunch roll was okay. All told an acceptable value but not great enough to go again. I'm on to try another sushi restaurant.

Nice little neighborhood Japanese restaurant . The only down side is selection of sashimi is limited. Taste is good and warm service. Sake is worthwhile ?

It’s all fine — just that there is a competing place that outperforms here overall, ie, the quality and variety of sushi for the price. To be fair, Aji nigiri was great, and I really liked quality of wasabi compared with others’, but overall, I was not impressed.

One of my favourite Japanese places in Vancouver. Super lucky to have this gem in North Burnaby. As previously posted, authentic Japanese sushi chef makes the most wonderful sushi, edo style with no frills, just really tasty, fresh fish. The prices are a bit on the pricer side, but I think its worth the value. I've visited multiple times and have never had a poor experience here.

We eat at Kazu at least once a month because of the quality. My all time favourite sushi place! Love their fresh wasabi too.

An authentic Japanese restaurant is a rare find these days in metro Vancouver. To find one in the Heights, a sleepy enclave in North Burnaby is even more rare. For me, there is no better way to judge a Japanese restaurant than by its Chirashi Don, a colourful assortment of fresh seafood artfully arranged on a bed of sushi rice. The Chirashi at Kazu is definitely high-quality with a standard selection of seafood that included sockeye salmon, maguro, saba, ika, tako, masago and tobiko. I wish they offered a deluxe option with some ikura and uni. Also, ordered some amaebi sushi; they served the heads, deep fried, sprinkled with salt without asking. The deep fried heads were a treat. The Chirashi is a little pricier but definitely worth the premium for a little slice of Japan. Highly, highly recommend Kazu for fresh, high-quality seafood without any of the upscale restaurant prices.

Waited over an hour for 3 rolls, while food was brought out to a friend to eat in front of us for 30 min. There were only 3 tables of people in the restaurant but take-out seemed more important than in house customers. Multiple people also waiting over 30min for takeout orders. Finally food brought out and seemed rushed like our orders were forgotten

Was not originally planning to go here but the other place was take out only. Family of 5 for dinner. Atmosphere is small and simple but clean. Food was excellent but our orders came out one after another so we didn’t really eat at the same time. But the food was excellent, hot, fresh and some of the best sushi. Fresh wasabi was a nice touch. Some of the portions were a little small eg edamame, salmon sashimi but other meals were good. All hot meals were very fresh as was the sushi. Service was good but as mentioned before a little slow which was probably because we were a party of 5. Would definitely go again but probably with a smaller party. Definitely more authentic vs your typical high volume place.
