My wife found this shop has special wheel cakes with red beans. She is the big fan of red beans cakes like the Korean fish cake.We special make a drive there. She likes the cake a lot but she is disappointed by the tea. She orders one Earl Grey latte and she find out it is make from Twinings' tea bag. She expects the latte should make of loose tea instead of teabag. The staff there are really nice and helpful. They make good wheel cakes. I hope we will have better drink next time.
I love their weekday combo. After working for a whole day (talking about 10+ hours), I like to come here, relax, grab a drink and enjoy some sweets. The weekday combo include one beverage and two wheel cakes with 15% off. I think it’s a good deal. The restaurant is very comfortable as well. Customer service is always good. The staff here is always friendly and polite.I like their Jodeen milk tea and wheel cakes with custard and taro paste. The filling inside the wheel cakes has quite a lot! Once I have a bite, the paste comes out from the edge of the wheel cake.I would recommend friends to come here. It’s a quiet place to chat and have a drink with friends. The restaurant solely sells beverages and wheel cakes. I am wondering if they would like to make breakfast, brunch or lunch with the wheel cakes, so they can do more business and have more varieties for customers to come here for breakfast/brunch and even some simple meals with their wheel cake ideas.
Great atmosphere, friendly service.Definitely a must try with unique taste and texture.Enjoy traditional bubble tea made by Real Taiwan master!
Clean, bright, and friendly vibe. Came here with friends after dinner for some dessert. I ordered the Oreo custard and pearl custard wheel. Both amazing but the Oreo one feels more special. I will become a regular here for sure.
Driving along Kingsway, we spotted this gem of a cafe and knew we had to check it out. Glad we did! Local coffee from Pallet roasters paired their in-house made wheel cakes. We tried the custard, taro, and oreo wheel cakes. Absolutely phenomenal! ? There is limited seating, and we didn't see any electrical plugs for laptops, etc. They do have guest wifi. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The fresh wheel cakes didn't take long and came out hot. Those not familiar with wheel cakes, think of the custard like hot vanilla pudding in a thin waffle batter. It tastes great by itself, but pairs well with the coffee. ☕ If my review helps, please hit the ? Thanks ✌️
We got taro, custard, pearl & custard, and cheese & corn flavors. My favorite are the taro and cheese & corn ones. The taro is not too sweet and you can actually taste the taro itself? The cheese & corn is not a traditional flavor but I wanted to try something new, and it tastes really good!! The other 2 flavors are good as well, but I will probably skip the one with pearls next time as it’s a little bit more pricy. And I forgot to take a picture of the inside stuffing haha will definitely visit it again when I’m craving for Taiwanese food
Very delicious and nice staff! The wheels with custard in it are my favourites and the price is not bad. Will definitely be back!
The wheel cake with pearls is a must-try! I loved how soft and creamy the inside was in combination with the chewy pearls. The sesame seeds on one side of the cake were also a nice touch. I recommend enjoying it fresh! I dined in and there was plenty of space between tables so I felt safe, and the staff at the front were very kind.
Very nice aesthetics, the theme is a very unique shade of blue (sort of like Tiffany blue). There are 4-5 tables (comfortably sits 4 people per table) by the window. You can watch them make the wheel cakes behind a glass panel as well which is fun. In general, the wheel cakes are very well made in terms of the texture and shape. It takes them much longer than what you might be used to at night markets, as they take their time cooking with the shell (nice and hard, not soggy), and fill it to the brim with filling then carefully assembly it. There’s also a cool branded logo they burn into the top of the wheel cake.**These cakes are very very low in sweetness – this can be a pro or a con, depending on your own palate. In my opinion, it was not sweet enough as a desert (I am the type to get 50% sugar at bubble tea places). The quality is definitely there, but it is a bit bland due to the low sweetness level. It is also quite pricy for a wheel cake, but I guess you’re paying for the top-grade quality. They also have savoury wheel cakes, but I did not get a chance to try them.My order:Custard ($3.25)Pearl & Custard ($3.75): My fave one out of the ones I tried as it was unique, and the pearls added a very nice chew texture to the wheel cake. Eat it while it is still hot for the full experience.Taro ($3.25): Real taro! Taro flavour was good, and pretty smooth. Again, it is very very low in sweetness, so it may not taste like a dessert per se.Red Bean ($3.25): This one has sesame seeds in the shell. You can ask them to custom make it without, but you’ll need to either call ahead of time, or wait for a new batch.
Came to JoDeen on a Saturday night. We wanted to sit for a bit so they scanned our COVID vaccination cards and IDs. I ordered the pearls custard wheel, the red bean wheel and the taro wheel. Out of the three I would definitely recommend the taro one over the other two. The outside was very crispy. The custard and pearl wheel had more pearls than custard. I wish the balance was a bit better as I got sick of the pearls after awhile. The taro wheel cake had a very strong taro flavour which I appreciated and the texture was not too thin or thick. Definitely get the taro flavour. I felt like the price was not bad for the quality I received as it feels like they use a lot of fillings in their wheels.
