This was a first visit to Fortuna. A lovely bakery filled with the intoxicating scent of fresh baked goods. My next visit will be much earlier in the day and not the last day of their work week to avail myself of a wider selection of goods.
We ordered the Red Velvet Cake and it was incredible. Extremely moist and beautifully decorated in a cream cheese frosting. Lovely way to celebrate a birthday.
My partner and I came in today and I asked for their opinion of what their favourite of the eclaires were, whipped cream or custard. I got recommended the custard and holy, I am so glad I tried it. Absolutely delicious. The custard was so smooth and creamy. I will for sure putchase more again when I am in the area!
Cash or debit only. Very old school and difficult to deal with.
After shopping here for nearly 20 years I have to say that my experience today has left a foul taste in my mouth and I believe it was all the result of one of the owners. And these crazy times you need to be very careful about what you ask from the general public. We all have rights and are protected by the Constitution.Try to remember that as you are operating a business within the confines of the Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms.
I bought the pasteis de nata...the taste was no way near the ones I had in Lisbon 2 years ago...the puff pastry was super soggy..just tasted stale..I was expecting more from this bakery?
One of the Best bakeries in Vancouver. They made my wedding cake in a short notice and it was delicious and looked amazing and the pastery chef (yoan) is so talented and amazing.
Not too sweet overall but they like to put small, way too sweet parts in their pastries. The pink puff has an outer pink coating which is way too sweet. The custard filled cone is too sweet, had they not covered it with loads of powdered sugar it would have been perfect. Also I wish they had used diplomat cream instead of pure custard.
Hats off to Lonn the Cake Artist at Fortuna! She created this beautiful (and delicious!) watermelon themed cake and cupcakes for a family reunion we had earlier in August. Just amazingly talented! Thank you!
Today, I went into this bakery to buy some baked goods, pecorino and ‘lady fingers’ to make tiramisu. However, got home and found Mold in my package of sealed ‘lady fingers’.I’m sure mistakes happens. I just want folks to look out for this if they recently bought this item. It’s easy to miss and you don’t want to get sick from mold.Couldn’t find my receipt, so I didn’t return to exchange at the store.
