One less star because long waits to get food served after ordering. Overall good experience eating here. Kottu was nice full meal option but keeps getting on and off menu. Our personal favourite is Prawns 65. Green chutney is yum.. been to this place for few years. Ambience isn’t great but we prefer tasty food so fine with it. Usually only one server doing everything and keeps changing so new face after few days. Had mixed experience with each. There’s one more in Surrey but haven’t been there yet.
We were here for the first time just because of its NAME: CHETTINAD DOSA PALACE! This is very deceiving . South Indian dishes are served in North Indian Style. We missed the flavour and taste of South Indian Cuisine particularly in CHETTINAD LAMB CURRY. If someone posts that they enjoyed authentic South Indian Dosa or to say Food they have not tasted it yet. The most disappointing dishes served here. Please change the name of your restaurant. CHETTINAD cuisine is rich in flavour and taste.
We had paper masala dosas here. Very tasty! We forgot my son’s water bottle and they properly kept it safe till we came back and picked it up later.
This restaurant serves Nonveg dishes & South Indian Veg/Nonveg Dishes. The Masala Dosa i ordered was tasty, good wth the accompaniment Sambhar & Chutneys. However service was awfully slow.about 25-30 mts wait, the quantities of Sambhar & Chutneys given was small & additional "topups" had to requested. The quality of food is good but service poor & prices..a shade expensive. Also mixing Veg& Nonveg foods is a damper.
Came here today for a mothers day lunch. We had reservations but when we arrived there was no server to seat us down so we sat ourselves down. Server first came after 20 minutes of us sitting down and 10 minutes later came with our water. I ordered the masala dosa with tea. We had to wait over an hour for our food but we had a fairly large party. The place only has 1 server so don't expect to be served fast. When the food came, it was just okay nothing special. The tea was very bitter and I had to add a lot of sugar to it just for it to taste normal. Overall Chettinand was a disappointment due to the service but if you are craving dosa there are not many other places to go in Burnaby but server was friendly. Personally I did not enjoy the experience and will not be returning.
Service is VERY slow. We ordered one plate idly and dosa-sambhar, it took more than 45 min to get the order. Idly was over steamed and a bit soggy. Dosa was good but sambhar was very bad. It was literally boiled soup with raw cut veggies. Veggies were not even cooked properly. I was not expecting this level of service. Needs much improvement. Hope I will have a better experience next time.
We went for lunch here after ages, hoping to relish the taste of southern Indian flavors we were so used to getting here, in our previous visits. But boy were we in for a bitter surprise, pun intended. The starter, cauliflower 65 had no salt so tasted bland. The next one also followed the same pattern with jaipuri paneer dosa, bland. The dosa even tasted off, most probably due to stale oil used for pan frying. The South Indian paratha appeared and tasted like a North Indian kulcha. The chicken pepper fry tasted like a murgh do pyaza. The chicken biryani we ordered for take out was the only saving grace. Overall we felt like the whole experience was north Indian style south indian dishes, if there is something like that. I hope this was just a one-off thing and we get to taste the food we were used to in the past.
Me and my friend went to this place and for the first time also first time to have fresh dosas. It turned out to be really good! The dosas are so yum and everything else are delicious too! The staff is really helpful and nice
Pros : Service was good. Washrooms are neat.Cons : None of the food didn't have any taste. Green chutney looks neon green and not natural. Potatoes in the masala Dosa wasn't peeled and cooked properly. I Didn't take the leftover home.
Ordered on skip the dishes! The food arrived on time and was packed well. We ordered mysore bajji(bonda) , palak paneer and naan/ chapati. We received shahi paneer instead. Aside from the mix up, the food/ taste wasn't what was expected and the food did not really taste authentic. The chapati was however very soft and tasty.
