I'm conflicted about how to "rate" this restaurant. It's not a great restaurant in terms of delicious fine cuisine. In fact, the meal was somewhat bland, with perfectly acceptable pasta covered in sauce that would not even meet the bar of canned sauce. I would rate the taste of the food as two or three stars. The decor in the restaurant is best described as eclectic and busy. There's lots to keep the eye busy here. It's clean and organized, as is needed in a busy place. There are signs of normal wear in this place. I would give this environment a three star rating. The service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and attentive without becoming too familiar. There was a local family vibe here that suits the restaurant. The food arrived quickly and I have nothing to complain about, perfectly adapted service to the venue. I would give our waitress five stars. The food portions are huge, as everyone else has already said. Yes, it's good value when calculated by price per pound of pasta. However, it's excessive and unhealthy from any perspective. It's not just enough for another meal when reheated. It's actually more like three or four healthy large portions. I completely respect that this is a signature element of this establishment; but that is not, in and of itself, a reason to award a higher rating. At some point, the large portion size becomes a negative and that's the case here. I would suggest they concentrate on a better flavor and reduce portions by 25% to 33%. In this regard, the portion size is not honestly a five star rating and I would say it is three stars for being excessive and negatively impacting the flavor of the food.So where do I land on an overall rating? Ultimately, I will say four stars. Those who eat here want lots of pasta and accept the impact this has on flavor. This is not fine cuisine; but they are good at putting a mountain of pasta on a plate and some want that. I likely won't eat here again, as I want something more from my dining experience. That's a personal choice.
It was a long time ( over 10 years) when we last visited and enjoyed a sumptuous and delicious Italian cuisine. We finally made another visit to Anton's, when my son from London, UK visited us lately. The food and service were as usual great and delicious. Good too that Anton's has kept to its tradition to serve large portion so that one can enjoy it at the premise and still have some to take home - good tradition and hope that this continues - especially when we are all facing the pressure of high inflation - well done Anton's and thanks for serving good , delicious and sumptuous food.
We visited Anton’s pasta bar and were amazed at quality of food. We had the pesto and beef lasagna. This is easily one of, if not the best pasta we’ve ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough!Delicious high quality plates!
Decades of serving a huge variety of pastas for everyone's taste, together with soups, salads, and some appetizers. Well known for their large serving portions and reliable pasta, Anton's continues to have lineups out the door with happy customers inside. Service was friendly and attentive.
Nothing has changed here in decades - huge portions, delicious homemade pasta, and lineups. If you go with more than 4 people, expect to lineup. We only saw one big table for 10. A couple of us had the specialty pasta dish of seafood cannelloni, fettuccini with Italian sausage & penne Bombay (shrimp pasta with curry). All the pasta is homemade. We shared the Caesar salad and had the ‘to die for’ tiramisu. The specialty dishes are worth the 30 minute wait. Plenty of food options for all. If you love leftovers this is the place for you. Enough for at least 2 more meals. Note they’re closed Sundays & Mondays. Opened from 11:30 am to 9 on most days. Unfortunately no reservations allowed. Service was great and didn’t have to wait long.
Great atmosphere, great service, huge portions and very reasonable prices. The Portuguese buns that accompanied our meal were so good that I had to buy some to take home. They come from Fortuna Bakery which is next door to the restaurant. Sadly it closes early (3pm) but I found them a block further west on Hastings Street at Cioffi's Market. ( That store is another great treasure ! )
Great food, big portions even for the small plates. There is another option for 2.75 to get a huge plate which easily serves two people. The best dish we had was penne antonio with extra tomato sauce. Baked rigatoni was great, it’s in the dinner menu. The service is so fast, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Minimum charge per person is 18, I would suggest you get a salad, one meal and a dessert because the portions are huge. It is a little busy, but definitely worth trying and waiting in the line. Definitely recommended.
The lady with short blonde hair was so rude unfortunately, it took her a long time to come to our table and when she finally came and I asked her about the foods on the menu she responded with a very bad tone and didn’t answer me properly, so I ended up with getting a food that I wasn’t sure about. But the food was ok and the portion of food is huge which is so cool.Service: 1/5Food: 3/5
I know Anton's always busy, which is why I tried to order take out instead, it was a weekday around 6:50-7pm that I called, they inform me that they are very busy and my order will take around 9:30pm to be ready.Wow, I was so surprised, this is the very first time I heard a restaurant that will take two and half hour for take out. Every restaurant that I know always put in the orders in between dine-in, and some even faster than dine-in. The price is not cheap either, min charge is $20.50 (again first time I seen a menu from a restaurant that mention min. charge). So much for giving a try, I don't think I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
It's like movies and looks impossible in 2022 in Vancouver!!! City of $$$$ with small portions! If you are a pasta lover like us! For sure try this restaurant! The food was huge!?it passed big !!! And delicious!Cost only 22$Quality ?Taste ?Staffs caring and behaviour ?Share your plates and enjoy different ones!Just note, if you are looking for ambiance, this is not the right place.
