First, I ordered my favorite, a bottle of Tsingtao beer. Interestingly, the bottle that I received was at room temperature, but the glass was frozen and I think it just came out of a freezer. I didn't know why, but it wasn't tasty. I guess because it was stored in a warm room? Next, I ordered some BBQ pork noodle and a set of spring rolls. The sliced pork in the BBQ noodle was ok, but the noodle was thin and bland, like instant meals. A bag of sauce came with the spring rolls, not in a bin. I was reminding myself that "Am I in a fast food restaurant?" I was sorry why I visited here. The room was nice, it had a nice view towards the park. But, I could tell that the restaurant is not very serious about business.
I don't know what took me so long to finally eat here...but, man, am I ever glad I did! The renovations look great, the staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food is PHENOMENAL! The wontons, never had better. Garlic dry ribs, salt and pepper shrimp, ginger beef, special chow mein, pineapple chicken, and chicken fried rice was the rest of our lineup, and every dish was delicious. Fresh ingredients and made to order really make their menu stand out. We will be back again and again and again...thanks to Mike and everyone else for a beautiful culinary experience!
Staff could benefit from cultural training. Terrible serve from hostess who greeted me at the door with “I thought you had a bottle in your purse”. It’s 2022 Lethbridge do better.
Had AMAZING SERVICE AND FOOD!! The food is made daily so it's fresh, way better than smorg I usually have. Best Chinese food I've had all year. Highly recommend to anyone who wants quality Chinese food. Will be back again and again.
I liked the food, but loved the amazing view. Book ahead of time if you want a window seat.
Authenticity matters. The Original Shanghai Chop House has been my "go to" for 60 years now and it never disappoints. Tonight was no exception as the Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce (made in-house, BTW) is the best on the planet. Drop by today and tell Michael the Manager, that I sent you.
Booked my parents favourite local restaurant for their 50th wedding anniversary. Francis, Mike and staff went above and beyond to help make this event very special. Food was exceptional, the venue and atmosphere way above expectation and the level of service from Mike and Staff top notch. Thank you!
Definitely not the old Shanghai. Food came in small portions, big prices. Very bland food. Very little noodles and meat in the Beef Chow Mein. Garlic Ribs were next to being burnt. Will not be ordering from there again any time soon. Shame ate there once or twice a week for over 35 years before they shut down a few years back.

Definitely not the Old Shanghai. Ate at the Original Shanghai for 30 sum years, they are not even close. Received half the food that other restaurants would have served. Costs at least 2 dollars more per dish than other restaurants. I just ordered Dry Garlic Ribs, which were burnt again. Beef Chow Mein, they should have called it Cabbage Chow Mein. Very little beef and noodles, the rest all cabbage and tough beef with no flavor. This was my second endeavor here at this restaurant and it will be my last. Enjoy Gardens here I come. I do not recommend the Shanghai, save your money.
