A must try. Sad I had not tried this place sooner. We dined in for lunch and it was very tasty. The food was hot and full of flavor. The sauces provided were varied enough that each of us were able to find one we liked (I recommend the Alberta Sweet, it was good). I don't know what kind of pickle they gave but if you are a pickle fan you will love the one you get, it was delicious. The staff was great, our waitress was attentive and professional but still down to earth and welcoming.
We tried Transit Smokehouse today, it was excellent. Food was so delicious, the staff very friendly and efficient, and the owner visited every table to make sure we were happy. Can’t wait to go again. Thanks for a great experience
I’ve been wanting to go here ever since I heard they were turning it into a BBQ joint. There were three of us and we got the three meat full pound platter (ribs, brisket, pulled pork) and a side of baked beans and Mac and cheese. The food was DELICIOUS! The meat was so tender and juicy. They have homemade in-house sauces to add to the already succulent flavour. The sides were just as good in their own way. One of the owners came to ask us how it was and talked to us about their smoking process which added a nice personal touch. He recommended the smoked blueberry ice cream which peaked my curiosity. I was glad I gave into that curiosity as the ice cream had a unique in a good way kinda flavour. It was like everything else, delicious. I’m so glad we came here and will definitely return. I wish I took pictures for anyone reading this as the food looks as good as it tastes.
Finally made it to the Transit to try the new bbq joint out and it was fantastic. The three of us ordered a four-meat platter with a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread and it was more than enough food that we took some home. The meat was very tasty, particularly the brisket. Both sides were delicious as well. We went for dessert after and ordered the ginger cake (AMAZING) and the smoked blueberry ice cream (very intriguing and delicious as well). One of the owners, Ray, stopped by our table to ask how things tasted, which was appreciated. There is love music every night as well. I will be back for more bbq!
oh man!! the food.. SOOO good!!.. and that brisket.. best brisket in the city, imo. the place was full for a Thursday & we weren't even expecting live music! the food & service were excellent!there's something to be said about being in a building as old as that place & enjoying yourself. I couldn't help but think about how many people have gone & had a really good time there before me. what an experience we weren't expecting! we're definitely going back. the smell outside was amazing!
Dropped in on a Saturday night for a date night. We had no idea what we were going for, we just thought it was cool that the old building had been bought and wanted some BBQ. Walked in and realized there was live music, as we were taken to our seats the atmosphere of the place was great. Our server was really nice and helped us make some choices. We got brisket and sausage as well as fries and ceaser salad and everything was yummy. The owner/manager came and spoke with us and was really friendly and asked how everything was. Even the musician came and spoke with us for a moment. We had a good time with good food and music and will be back!
Really impressed with the entire experience. The decor is made up of items found in the basement as they were moving in and renovating. The food was fantastic, the 2/3 pound 5 meat platter was plenty for our table of 6, although on the server's recommendation we squeezed in the smoked blueberry ice cream and snickers ice cream to share. The owner and the chef both stopped at our table to check in. Our server was hilarious and knowledgeable. You can tell how proud the team is to work there and what they offer. Will definitely visit again when in Edmonton and highly recommend!
Was their on Feb 19/22 friend took me out for birthday dinner and I had smoked chicken and side of garlic mashed potatoes the potatoes were hotter than my chicken owner comes out says how’s everything I tell him food is not hot-sends it back to get heated in oven and comes out again luke warm at best. Told him was good and that point why bother. Will never be a returning customer
Having grown up in area I was interested in seeing what they had done with the place. It is very nice with live blues in the background. It had the feel of a Memphis or KC BBQ place. The staff was awesome. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was good but a little under seasoned for my liking. They rub the meat with salt and pepper. It’s all about the sauces. The simple rub allows the sauces to shine. And shine they do. A couple of them are on the thin side.but they enhance the flavor of the meat. The beans and coleslaw were delicious. We will be going back.
First coming here, excellent food, live blues music. Food is excellent, a little pricey. Would return
