This place has been well known in town for years. We are lucky there's no line up when we showed up. We had a seat within five minutes and the place was busy.Soups are rich in flavors. We had tried both the six hour chicken soup base and ten hour pork soup base. As a spicy food lover, I ordered Aka Kara and my partner has Tokyo Tonkotsu. I didn't find Aka Kara super spicy but the lady besides me, who has the same order, seems to struggle a little. We do find the soup is a bit salty thus we didn't finish them as we used to do in other ramen restaurants. The noodles are cooked to perfection. The service is perfect, fast and attentive.
I had a wonderful time here! While I waited at the line up, I saw lots of people of all kinds come in and leave satisfied. If you're sensitive to salty foods, this place may not be a good choice for you as they heavily season the broth.I got the Yuzu ramen (first photo). It's bright, citrusy which works well with the fatty pork.
2022 June 4.5★A busy open concept traditional ramen shop with one aisle serving about 30 people. The shop closes once all the soup is finished. All ramen bowls come with Pork Charshu (except GOMA GOMA and SPICY GOMA), Wood Ear Mushrooms, half boiled Egg, Bean Sprouts, Shanghai Bok Choi, and Green Onion.Zero preservatives used. All soup stock ingredients are natural and made in-house daily. Pork soup base is cooked for 10 hours whereas Chicken is cooked for 6 hours.TOKYO TONKOTSU $15HOKKAIDO MISO $16BLACK GARLIC $16The soups are both rich and flavorful. Toppings are good. The noodles are chewy and soft.Would recommend.Free parking.Closes when soup is sold out.
This Japanese restaurant is too busy to get in there. It has been on my pocket list for over 5 years, and every time I hit downtown I would try to get in but always fail. This time, 2022 May, I finally got the chance and I was pretty satisfied.
Busy location be prepared to wait 30 mins for food. Very flavourful, ordered black goma, which was nice but once all the noodles and toppings were finished the broth alone was a bit much. My other half ordered Spicy goma which was balanced nicely flavour wise. Portions were large and it was cheap. Not my first choice for ramen but I can say I would try them out again.
Very busy atmosphere, added to the feel. Wife's ramen was good, mine was a little meh. Noodle were overcooked in mine, but overall it was a decent time. Definitely would recommend, and the Japanese pop was awesome.
BEST RAMEN IN THE CITY.~only cash and debit accepted~Literally SO amazing. We've tried to go a few times this week and they're often out of soup stock because they make it properly (authentic ramen broth takes hours to simmer), or booked up because it's so popular. So definitely try to go right when they open or at least be ready to wait! However, COMPLETELY WORTH THE WAIT. Most ramen restaurants do cheap, simple ramen. The flavors at Tokiwa are insanely good. We ordered the Yuzu and Goma Goma. The Yuzu was so light and refreshing. The Goma Goma was a little heavier but just as delicious. The food came out quickly and hot. Even with the long line they are very efficient with the service, which I'm sure helps keep the wait time shorter than it could be!15/10. Will go back and recommend to everyone.
Love the Ramen and dumplings!!! Just understand that you are not allowed in the restaurant and get a table if your party does not arrive all together.
Showed up at 1126 on a Tuesday and we had to wait about 10 minutes. We got the yuzo shio (chicken broth, clear) and the spicy goma (pork broth, red). We were served quickly. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the food. There was chili oil and rice vinegar with ginger root at the table fo you to add yourself. Brothwas nice and flavorful on both with great noodles. The meat was tender and there was a good amount.I have returned several times and the quality is always good. I truly love the spicy goma goma, second one to the black garlic.
Today went Again for the first time in like a few years since covid. The restaurant was packed. We reserved a table at the door. Only had to wait like 10 mins and we were in. They sat us down quickly, got drinks within 5 mins and took our order a few mins after. They asked us how our food was 5 mins in. They let us sit even tho it was crowded. Great service for being so busy!Broth tasted just as good as I remembered and portions are still large! Sadly no ramune that day =<.
