The taste of the food was a huge disappointment. The service was dreadful, only 2 tables occupied inside and we waited and waited. The server apologized several times. The Harvest Room will no longer be our traditional birthday supper restaurant.
Stopped in for breakfast and it was realllyy good!!! Pricey but absolutely worth it. Friendly staff and Excellent service.
We went early to have a cocktail in the lounge to find it closed (under construction). We were seated with no issues but then I found we were rushed through the meal. The dinner was very good and very pricey. Dessert I found disappointing. The washroom was out of paper towels and the grounds were not kept up, trash on the way in and the fountain water was a dirty green.
I booked a reservation at the Hotel MacDonald for our wedding anniversary. We were sat on the outside patio with a young family with crying child. We ignored this and I started with an americano. My partner who is lactose intolerant asked if she could have lactose free cream if she ordered a coffee. She was advised that wasn't an option. Who puts almond or oat milk in their coffee? So she passed. I told our server that we were dining to celebrate our anniversary and requested a menu for prosecco or champagne. She paused and said "I could bring you a Mimosa". I said that isnt what I was hoping for, however agreed, asking for minimal orange juice. Several minutes later we were served. The mimosa was primarily orange juice. While waiting I glanced at another table. The couple had a bottle of Prosecco in a chilled wine holder with sides of OJ. I pointed this out to my partner and said that is what I was expecting! I asked our server again for a champagne list. 20 min. past, asked her again. This time the manager came by and I told him that this was not what I was expecting for a 4 star restaurant/hotel. He brought the wine list and I ordered a bottle of Prosecco. During the experience we had to flag down our server who appeared better suited to be working at Smittys. She came and went so fast we felt uncomfortable and under served. I was expecting capers with my smoked salmon english muffin, however it was not on the menu according to the server, again to my surprise. We requested condiments and I waited 10 minutes for salt and pepper. My food was then cold. We were very frustrated! We again spoke with the manager. He appeared to be responsive and for the last portion of our experience we received service along with a complimentary desert. I would not recommend this dining experience to anyone who wishes to enjoy a special occasion. We did feel that because we are a same sex female couple that the waitress was uncomfortable with us.

The food, service and ambiance was great. What brings down my rating is that when we arrived, they said that we didn't have a reservation for that day but for the next week. They did end up accommodating us. When I got home and double checked, I confirmed had indeed been for that day.

Our server Dew, was so cheerful and incredibly helpful. The food was absolutely incredible.
Great view, and world class service! Its our anniversary 'go to' but also a great patio for an anytime break.
