Tonight was a sad night in our household. Ordered our favourites from Syphay since we haven’t had the pleasure in over a year (pre pandemic). We have always loved everything we get from here. We ordered the green curry, pad Thai, spicy crispy shrimp, and some spring rolls and fresh rolls. The pad Thai lacked any flavour at all. The green curry had a fake green colour almost as if it had been dyed to be more green (??) and was spicy but lacked any flavour or depth. The spring rolls had no flavour and the “peanut” sauce that comes with the fresh rolls can only be described as a flavourless nut paste of some kind but it wasn’t peanuts. And because we ordered delivery we paid $125 for all of this (tip included) and were left severely disappointed. Syphay what happened? I am genuinely concerned and sad. This used to be our favourite place and I am profoundly disappointed. Won’t be ordering from here again unless we hear back about what the heck has happened to what used to be our favourite Thai restaurant. :(
Always delivers great flavour that will leave you satisfied everytime! The gong krateum with squid and green curry are a must and I look forwards to trying more menu items like the pad Thai and papaya salad next. One improvement I would like to see is in portioning, I got a seafood curry dish and it was supposed to come with scallops but we only got 1 scallop… chopped into two pieces. For the price more is to be expected. Also the rice prices are kind of preposterous, being Asian myself I’m shocked they are so much for a bowl lol.
Get a dessert if the food was too spicy to you. Coconut rice matches with the curry.
I love their food so much, I will definitely go back! Sometime they have Groupon deals and the price is amazing!
My favourite Thai restaurant. The food is always excellent and the staff are courteous and helpful. Come and try it. You won’t be disappointed!
Amazing service and friendly staff! This place was recommended to us by a friend. We liked the food and the portions are definitely more than enough. I gave 4/5 just because the place was a little chilly, and because of that, the food got cold quickly.
Amazing service and great atmosphere! The food here is amazing. As close to Thailand as I've had in Edmonton for sure. A bit pricey but the portions are pretty big. Overall amazing experience here.
This restaurant emulates culture and flavour with every dish. I ordered the Syphay Platter, Phanang Curry with Beef, Spicy Pad Thai, and Khao Pad Mun Poo Fried Rice. Everything last item was delicious and authentic tasting. The syphay platter was an extremely great value for the price. The Pad Thai and curry were both rich in flavour. My favourite dish was the Khao Pad Mun Poo, I kid you not this was probably some of the best fried rice I’ve had in my life! Like these lot aren’t even stingy with the chicken and shrimps!! It was giving ALL it needed to gave.. as per, I was craving it for weeks after. So much so, that a week later I ordered some from the Calgary Trail location via SkipTheDishes... but unfortunately it did not compare to what I had at the Jasper Ave location, and the fried rice I received was quite different in appearance and flavour. Also, there were 2-3 dishes I wanted to order off the menu but was informed they were unavailable, so that was a bit of a bummer. But I can still honestly say this is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to! If you are craving Thai food, would like to try a new cultural cuisine, or even just want a solid dinner - I highly recommend Syphay ?
Amazing food and service. The curries and mango sticky rice are sooo good. People seem to complain that the service is slow, it's not the fastest but I think that it's meant to be a relaxing experience where you can enjoy the food and socialize with your family and friends. They are doing their best and the food is absolutely worth a longer outing
It is good, but for me the food needs more season.
