A hidden gem on the west side. Known for their soup dumplings and other steamed dumplings. Homemade and fresh made everyday. Absolutely delicious and comforting.Excellent service and friendly staff will definitely a repeat when we're in town again!

Dinner for six was a great value and food was awesome. Shanghai soup dumplings are very good and definitely need to try. Service is warm and friendly, has that old school Chinese restaurant feel, makes you feel at home. Not a lot of good Shanghai restaurants in Edmonton, I think this is a gem worth trying!

Very generous portions, wow. The most delicious fried green beans and crispy ginger beef I've ever had in Edmonton. My littles could not get enough and the 4 year old hates green vegetables. Good cold as well. Not a fan of xlb dumplings in general, the Shanghai noodles and rice cake noodles were good but slightly too greasy for me. I tried the Shanghai crispy rice roll with pork floss - my kid wouldn't eat it then loved it after I compared the floss to cotton candy. Can't wait to return!

Hot, fresh and delicious! We ordered takeout from Shanghai 456 tonight and it was wonderful. The ginger beef is the best we’ve ever had in Edmonton: it was spiced perfectly, had a lovely tang and a depth of flavour not normally seen in ginger beef dishes. And it stayed crispy long after my partner had initially picked up our order. The rest of the dishes we chose were equally tasty: XLB (pork soup dumplings), wonton soup with noodles, spring rolls (our kids loved these!), the lightest and crispiest salt and pepper squid, green onion cake and pan fried beef soup dumplings. So so good. Highly recommend!Pictured is the salt & pepper squid which surprisingly also contained tofu. It was a good surprise!

As an explorer, here's my spin... came for family brunch/lunch, ordered way too much food since the pandemic, portions were big, so lots of take away.

Waitress was very friendly. Had some dumplings and they were exactly what i was looking for. The chow mein was some of the best I've ever had and the lemon chicken as well. Highly recommended for authenticity! Will definitely be back sometime!

Excellent Chinese food! I lived in Shanghai for 6 months and the thing I miss the most is the food. Shanghai 456 definitely brought me back, especially the xiaolong bao soup dumplings. The Shanghai noodles and wonton soup are also very good!! Definitely recommend!!

The first time I went here (pre pandemic) I had the spicy chicken and tried the popular soup dumplings. I thought it overall was ok. It was quiet in there, and the service wasn’t overly friendly.I ordered delivery for the Lunar New Year 2022 and got the one of the set meals for 2. The ginger beef and lemon chicken were great. Moist and flavoured with well. I also wanted to try the hot and sour soup, which was really good! I added extra spice to it, because I like pretty spicy things. I was surprised at how flavourful it was. Another thing I tried were the turnip and ham pastry. They were fresh, flaky and delicious! They were definitely the highlight for me :)

Tastes like more traditional Chinese food than western Chinese food. I have only had the noodle wonton soup, the broth is out of this world, the wonton look like they are home made, they are the most delicious wontons I have ever had.

Our Fave place of all. Shanghai Noodles is what brought us here way back. Lemon chicken is by far the best too.
