To be clear, If you can eat gluten id give this place a 3.5 rating. With recent changes to their gluten free menu, I rate this place a 1 simply because of the lack of options. I’m a world going more gluten free, it’s amazing they are reducing this menu.They removed their real crab, which has eliminate a lot of GF options. Even for a gluten eating, this is a disappointment.Poor management decision on this one, last time I will be coming here.
Unfortunately it looks like they have changed to imitation crab for all rolls containing crab. Has been real crab for years and now the price is the same and have moved to the cheaper alternatives. Super disappointing. Hopefully Mikado will go back to real crab ASAP.
The Miso soup is to die for! Everything was tasty and seemed high quality. The esthetic was absolutely awesome! And they gave me ice cream for my birthday!!
I usually get sushi from here and always top class but today they were extremely busy with dine in and skip . so I think my $100 order was sacrificed by poor food quality . Hence we need more proper sushi restaurants in Edmonton . They use real crab and I love that but this time eating sushi with real crab was like eating a soggy sock ! Very tasteless . I really hope they can maintain the quality since service is brilliant.
This was my first time trying Mikado. The food is good and their bentos come with enough food for one person. The price is reasonable and food quality is good.If you're looking for a nice place and reasonably priced Japanese restaurant this can easily fit your needs.
Really enjoyed our meals! We had friends come in from out of town and we took them here for dinner. Service was great as well! Thank you Mikado for being one of the best sushi places in town, regardless of the location!Side note, we always ordered the green tea! Genuine Japanese green tea! You get a pot to share with whoever is at your table and you get charged a per/person rate but it's unlimited refills! Worth!
Although we've been customers for years, this time it was very disappointing. Large family gathering, poor quality sushi, rolls loaded with rice, server touching straw with her bare hand, no ask about "how is everything tasting". My water glass wasn't clean.When we went to pay and explained this at the front counter the response was " oh, we're really busy".I emailed with my comments and received no reply so apparently they are not concerned.We will take our business elsewhere.
A buddy and I went for lunch to one of my go-to sushi places for lunch. I have been to the Southside and downtown locations numerous times, but this was the first time to the Westend place. Although much smaller in size, it did not disappoint. Even better... it's close to the office!
First time trying Mikado. It was truly wonderful. Very clean and well laid out restaurant. Staff was super friendly and fast. Very rare to see a Japanese restaurant with such a huge vegetarian menu. Food looked excellent and tasted even better. Lots of variety. This will become a new favorite place.
Enjoyed our meal it was fresh and prompt , the server Yumiko went out of her way to make our celebration memorable ??. Great service and food . COVId safe small seating in rooms ?. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
