I firmly believe this place is overpriced for ‘Mexican’ food. However it is good food. I recommend the tortilla soup which I believe is a good price for the soup quality and amount. The chihuahua bulldog is very vanilla-ish.
Came here on a Tuesday and they had a great deal on tacos and the special bulldog. We ordered a lot of tacos and we thought they might skimp on portion size considering it was Taco Tuesday but no. They were very full and all of them were very tasty. We each tried a different bulldog (shoutout to whoever named them) and they were also delicious. Had a great time here. The only thing missing was perhaps some live music to really keep the vibe alive.
I was here today for dinner and i was not happy with the meal, they were not hot and for nachos chicken was dry. For chicken quesadilla it was dry and less cheese. Not happy with the food. Waiter was nice and friendly though.ENCHILADAS was warm not hot. Waste of money, spend $168. Not happy with this place at all.
The server seemed to have trouble with an add-on of shrimp to my taco salad but then brought the salad with shrimp saying, the chef had made a special exception to put the shrimp on my salad. The salad was pretty mediocre, not much flavour even with the shrimp and the lettuce was rusty. I ate around the bad bits and asked her at the end to show the chef. She came back and only when I asked about the chef ‘s reaction did she say, “He says it’s lettuce. It comes like that.” I get that booze is the big thing at Julio’s but if you are selling food, it should be good food and the chef should care about that. My companion had a Mexibowl that was also very mediocre and has said he won’t go back.
This place is always fun. I ordered the fish tacos and they were ok. I think there’s so much more that could have been done with them to make them more flavourful and unique. Our server was really nice and I have no complaints about her. I did, however, have to send 2 red water glasses back that had lipstick stains all over them. Please ensure someone is checking those before serving them to customers.
we went to Julio's on a whim and were delightfully surprised! the food was a delight, and so filling (portions are quite big, which is a bonus). we tried the chicken and feta enchilada, the falautas and the chicken tacos, all were great! they have a lot of items that can be shared amongst large groups, and the atmosphere and decor were so charming! staff was very friendly. overall really good place and i cannot wait to visit again!
One of the nicest mexican restaurants in edmonton hands down. Its in the heart of whyte ave. Highly recommend checking them out. But be ready to wait a lil as the place is almost always pretty crowded and so the service gets affected. But the food is worth the wait. Also try the fried Mexican ice cream .. if you like desserts.. you will love it. The chimichangas is good too.
The atmosphere was lively at this location. Ordered the mucho macho nachos and they are sized for a group of 3-5 is advertised in the menu but the portions are not that large and it was quite easy for a group of just 2 to finish the item. The taste was good but it is pretty hard to fail at nachos. The waitress mentioned the special tonight was " Bulldogs" so we ordered one to try but when we asked her the price it was the same as regular price so wasn't clear on what the special was. 14 dollars for a bulldog. Anyways this experience for me would be rated as average only and nothing really to make you drive out of your way for Mexican cuisine.
We have been going to Julio’s for many years now and after our last couple visits it is on our “no eating” list. They have changed their burrito which was what my husband always ordered. It is now not a burrito, it’s a wrap served cut in half and meant to be handheld….? I ordered the Azteca salad and it tasted like it had sat in the fridge overnight with the dressing on it. The advertised avocado dressing did not resemble anything that tasted like that. I added the chicken for I think $5 or $5.50 and got a couple little squares of sad looking chicken on the top. This was the second time being disappointed in the food recently. Last time we started with the Flautas which were very disappointing and tasted like something from the frozen food section at a grocery store. Our server was nice but as someone who worked in the service industry. If you take a full salad with just a couple bites taken off a table and the customer doesn’t want it packed up your not doing your job if you don’t ask if they were happy with it.
IFood is still ammmmazing. Waiter is soooooo handsome. Favorite place forever
