This was our first time here. The experience was unique and very enjoyable. We placed our orders and were quickly served our appetizers. Then our chef came to our table and fired up the grill. He did some fancy handwork, tossing, spinning and catching his tools and then fried up our chicken, beef and shrimp alongside some fresh vegetables. There was also an array of very tasty sauces to choose from. Our meals were delicious. We would come back again for a dinner with a group of friends.

This was my first and probably the last time to dine at this place. Our family was very much looking forward to dining at this restaurant. As there were only 3 of us, we needed to dine with another family. We ordered a lot of food , also ordered the two most expensive steaks in the restaurant, everything was very good, until the end when the chef put the steak on my plate. I ordered brant lake wagyu and Miyazaki A5, however, the chef gave me obviously not! The chef got the steak wrong, I immediately told the other staff that it wasn't my steak, but the staff said she didn't know which steak was ours! It was not until after the meal that I found the poster picture of the steak in the restaurant that the manager came forward and said that they were wrong! You guys ruined my day, I don't think it's just a mistake.

Japanese Village has a great vibe and overall atmosphere. It is a fun spot to sit, have cocktails, enjoy watching your food be prepared by an entertaining chef and then the main event, the food, is just great tasting!

We dined here for our son's birthday and was delighted with the friendly staff and great chefs that cooked our meals. The server was attentive and the chef was personable. We ordered the steak sampler and as much as I would like to provide 5 stars, unfortunately their Wagyu cuts did not provide the taste and texture I was looking forward to for the premium price. The overall experience was a positive one with the family and our other dishes were delicious. I would definitely recommend them for a family celebration or dinner outing.

Japanese Village USED to be my favorite restaurant hands down. I have been going there for 25 years and have been to multiple locations. the service has indeed suffered over the years but we usually always requested the same chef and rarely had issues. There were a few one offs where the chef we were given was a new chef and was so bad that it was embarrassing but I will admit that was few and far between. my main issue right now is with the Sauces. Japanese Village had the sauce game on lockdown - the steak sauce was the best and the ginger and salad dressings could not be compared to with anything anywhere. We used to always buy the Sauces to take home. HOWEVER, they have changed their Sauces and the composition of them and it is not just in my opinion but many of our friends as well that this change has NOT been for the better. the steak sauce is WAY TOO THICK and the flavour is just wrong. Not entirely sure what you guys did to the salad dressing but it is way off the mark and no longer even appetizing. So sad and just overly disappointing all around. Not sure if anyone reads these but if you do please go back to what once was phenomenal. The "new" formulas

Absolutely amazing experience. Definitely order less food than you think you will eat. I can't rave enough about this place. 5 stars for sure. This is something you have to do!!

Took the family for 2 birthdays. We waited over an hour after our reservation to get a chef. Then comes the cheque the bill says $330ish so fine. Give her the $200 gift certificates we bought during covid to help support them. She comes back with a whole new bill which suddenly comes back $50 dollars more ! Now there’s suddenly a gratuity on it that never used to be there. My tip would have been way bigger despite the hour wait. I won’t be back. Just watch your bills they like to switch them up and change the amounts for fun. They cheat you

Always entertaining. It’s a fun dining experience. Good menu. Good flavours. Decent portions. Nice atmosphere. I like it that meals come with soup and salad and starter shrimp. Recommend.

Staff is nice.Chef was in a mega rush basically throwing the food on the plates, didn’t do taste test on steak. Very Smokey very loud atmosphere. Not great for visiting.I have been to all Japanese village locations and generally enjoy my experience but west Edmonton mall is subpar.I got the misonaise shrimp meal I typically get and enjoy however this time I received under cooked shrimp. I told staff they offered redo I declined as my appetite was already ruined. See photo shrimp is grey on portions not pink throughout there was cold points and jelly type texture I ate 2 pieces I am hoping this does not lead to food poisoning.I suspected management would discount meal or not charge but they only removed the virgin cocktail from my bill charged the full 37$ for serving raw food. Basically the final straw to trigger this review.

Always entertaining with delicious food, the dinner was great. We shared the table with two families who each had a member having their first Japanese Village experience.Keep up the great work folks!
