I got the 8 oz spicy mayo tuna, and was worried it wouldn’t be enough (I chose not to add the rice). But it was - and quite delicious. The tuna was a bit…grainy? But otherwise the flavour was good (a bit saltier without rice)! I loved the seaweed salad and the seaweed snacks. :) It’s really conveniently located for me, so like Arnie…I’ll be back.
Amazing place to visit and eat. We happened to be nearby registry and were looking for a restaurant to eat. My hubby doesn't eat raw food and I am pegnant. So we couldn't try their poke. So we got their hot meal and it was amazing. I got some kind of hamburger patti with gravy and it was less than 10 bucks and believe me, I was full. I had not eaten anything since 9 in the morning and ate around 5. So yes I was hungry. I also enjoyed Spam musbey? A lot. Staff were so friendly and offered us service snack for mother's day :)
I love this place! Both the salmon and tuna are excellent. The wasabi mayo and the ginger are delicious. I have been to Hawaii many times and this just takes me back. So happy to have such a great place in the city.
I've gone here a few times when craving poke and while I'm sadly not in Hawaii. The poke is decently priced for the amount, especially compared to some poke bowl places in town. Overall, I've had decent poke and can't complain about the quality, especially considering that we're landlocked. In terms of the cooked food items, I can only speak to the fried spam musubi, which has been hit or miss at about a 50-50 rate unfortunately.I have also bought a gift certificate from this restaurant, and I would highly advise against it. I wanted to support a local business, but they charged me tax on top of my gift card amount. Of course, any time I go back, I'll be charged GST with each purchase, so I'm paying double the amount of taxes. At the time of purchase, I asked why tax was being charged. They responded that their system charges it automatically. I'd had a suspicion that tax is not supposed to be charged on gift cards, but I didn't have the legislation that I've since found which does support this, and they wouldn't take the tax off.I've been striving to support local businesses rather than chains in these tough times, but the poor experience dealing with staff regarding the gift card in addition to the inconsistency of the food - it leaves me hesitant in wanting to return.EDIT: Thank you to the owner for acknowledging the GST charge error. Due to this, I would like to change my recommendation to support purchasing gift certificates at this restaurant.
Spicy Mayo salmon is so good! My kids love the deep fried musubi. And my husbands favourite is the kalbi. Service is quick and courteous. Place is clean and staff is friendly.
I lived in Hawaii for 3 months and I visited there 3 times. I’ll write the honest review based on my experience (But I didn’t expect the foods to be as good as the local). The salmon poke was fishy for me and I understand this because it’s hard to get fresh fish here. But the rice came with both poke and loco moco was cooked soggy and mushy (not like regular sushi rice). The portion of seaweed salad I ordered separately was so small that not even filled the whole sauce container. And the size of hamburger patty in loco moco is petite size. And there’s not enough gravy sauce to eat with rice(it usually comes with enough sauce to enjoy with rice). I was so excited to read good reviews about this restaurant but unfortunately the foods were disappointing.
The poke here is as good as what you'll get in Hawaii. My wife & I usually go to the Big Island in Hawaii every year, but we've been shy of the pandemic for the last two winters. Ana's shop helps us with our Hawaiian food longings. Aloha and Mahalo Ana!!!
Amazing poke that reminded me of my Hawaiian vacation. Negative reviews complaining that there were no “add ons” in the poke bowls were expecting Americanized poke which is far from the real thing. Definitely try Hawaiian Poke & More if you’re looking for an authentic Hawaiian meal. The spam musubi also hit the spot. To top it off, the owner was super friendly and welcoming. What a local gem!
I came here to pick up food recently. The restaurant has a nice and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was very friendly and service was great as I was offered different flavours to try when I was debating on what to get. In terms of food, I got the Spicy Mayo Tuna Poke Bowl and Sweet and Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl, and I sampled the Wasabi Tuna. The tuna was fresh, was diced up into nice pieces, and was good with all the flavours. The spicy mayo flavour was good, creamy, and well balanced. I think it’d probably be better in burrito form (rather than a poke bowl). The Sweet and Spicy describes the flavour quite well. It’s a stingy type of spicy that shines through and is quite unique in Edmonton. It felt similar to eating sashimi and it was good in a poke bowl style. For the wasabi flavour, it was more creamy than the typical wasabi so it had the wasabi sting but was also soothing. Note that they also offer catering service
Yummy poke bowls and spam musubi! Owner is super nice. Highly recommended!
