The west end 170st location is top notch!! since the German chocolate pie is only once a year they normally don’t have the ingredients readily available, I ordered a chocolate cream pie thinking I would add the topping myself well when I picked it up today for my birthday they made me the German chocolate one just for me. It brought me to tears how sweet one business can be. Absolutely heart warming staff !! I’m here weekly and will keep coming back. Love you guys :)
Went here for lunch with my wife. Sandwiches are always great! stuffed with plenty of goodness inside. Now for the pie.... I had to share it with my wife (Apple Pie), so i didn't get enough of a taste, so I'll have to go back to complete this review ;)
First time at this establishment, and not impressed. Wasn’t to busy when we showed up. Not a friendly or welcoming atmosphere. The lady who made my moms sandwich was stingy on the veggies. Which was only cucumbers and onions. ($8.18 for a tuna sandwich) Plus they also charge extra $1.21 for the cheese, without the warning of said charge. It’s on the menu, but hard to see. Hard to see the menus as they are not very visible from the ordering spot. Ordered coconut cream pie ($5.76) bland flavour, not creamy but gelatinous. Overall the experience was not enjoyable. Over $21 for 2 bottles of water, a boring sandwich and a gross pie. Won’t be back!! To expensive!
Not worth the stop. Mediocre sandwich with high price tag. Place was clean, staff dismissive and very set on fast food mode, no engagement, no smiles; just get your food and get out, don't ask any questions cause we have regular customers who know the menu.
The ladies can be a little grumpy, but I love the personality of this place. The sandwiches are a great value and make you feel a good kind of full. Not, like, fatty full. You know?
Love the pies. Not overly sweet just the right & perfect amount of sweet.
Let me paint your a picture of this morning. We walk in, stand at the counter at 9:15am The staff look up at us and say nothing, which normally doesn’t phase me, but adds to the service we got today. We then order our 3 ham Sammie’s and have a seat. We watch as everyone keeps doing other things for customers that are not even there. Finally. They finish our sandwiches. We then stand there at the front waiting. One lady is helping other customers while no one else offers to ring us in. So we keep waiting. No one bothers to apologize for the wait. We leave at 9:48am. 33 mins for 3 simple sandwiches. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at this location.
Do not order pies from this establishment if you're hoping to get what you ordered. Last year decided to order a pie for a birthday only to have an error occur where the pie was cut up and served to customers prior to pickup time and only found out they didn't have our pie when I had gone in to pick it up. Decided this was a one off occurence and decided to give them a second chance. Clearly this was putting too much faith in them as they once again repeated this exact same error. This seems like the easiest of fixes such as putting a piece of plastic film with some writing on it stating it should not be served to customers, but for some reason this problem occurs without fail for us.
This use to be my go to for affordable and fast service for sandwhiches and good food. But the last couple times I went, service has gone way down hill. Sandwhiches are poorly made and lacked toppings. Never got pie again due to staff selling a whole pie I pre ordered and when I decided to get a different pie after they suggested it and apologized for the mix up... finding hair and plastic in it. Some staff was extremely rude and rude to each other as well. The fact that customers have to witness employees being verbally abused by their own coworkers is such a turn off and unprofessional. Workers always looked unhappy. Line up is always ridiculously long. It would help if they actually had more staff and helped the cashiers during lunch rush. Don't think I'll be coming back to this location. It's a shame that this place isn't the same as it use to be pre-covid.
Best lunch place. Homemade sandwiches and don’t forget the amazing pies!
