Their food were very delicious! Would definitely go back again for more. It’s a bit hard to understand the menu though.
Most popular Korean style soup in Edmonton. Its hard to find all of your favourite soup in one store, but this store has more than 20 soup choices. Blood sausage soodae soup is always my go to! Must try crispy dumpling and cream corn cheese, it’s so delicious. One big thing about this store is your get big amount of side dishes, radish, kimchi, bean sprouts. It can never go wrong. Their herbal medicine jokbal is also very delicious, it comes with lettuce, garlic, and Jalapeños. If you are a soup lover, go try this place.
Korean home style cooking with good flavor. This place shares the same building with another Korean BBQ restaurant Baekjeong (two different entrances). We really enjoyed their cold noodles and tofu stew. Their kimchi side dishes were quite tasty as well.
The experience at Dookbaeki was decent overall, but could have been better in a couple of key areas. The menu leans heavily towards soups and stews, and is notably purely Korean, as opposed to a mix of Korean plus other cuisines like some other Korean restaurants do.We enjoyed the food generally. The soup my daughter had (budae-soontubu) was very hot both temperature wise and taste wise (maybe a little too spicy for her) but it also jad a ton of soft silky tofu which she really enjoyed with a side of plain white rice.On the other hand, my beef bibimbap (sogogi dolsot bibimbap) was disappointing. It was bland, the rice was too dry, and the beef was almost non-existent. I was able to fix the blandness and dryness issue by adding lots (I mean LOTS) of hot sauce.Fortunately, the sides were great: pan fried tofu and steamed dumplings really hit the spot. As well, the supplied condiments (sesame bean sprouts, Kimchi and pickled radish) were good quality so no complaints there. Two slightly negative things to note:1) the tableside bell to ring for service needs to be held down until you hear it ring. We tapped it once quickly and saw the red light come on, then waited patiently for 15 minutes for no service. We tapped a second time but held long enough to hear it ring, and then service was fast and friendly. So, know that if the bell doesn't ring, you will be ignored.2) the wood slats in the table top have gaps into which food particles have fallen. The gaps appear to have been covered/filled by white silicone at some point, but a lot of that is long gone and now the exposed joints are full of crud, and it's pretty gross... Didn't enjoy eating over top of past diners dried out rice grains, rotting bits of meat and veggies, dribbles of sauce all fallen I to the tabletop crevices. Just... Ug.Overall, not bad but definitely could have been better.
I usually order for taking out once a week, but I have a terrible experience for the seafood pancake last time, it was burned staled and didnt cut, I dont know but I hope it wasnt someone reuturn it, and I ordered and I got it! I understand dinner time can be busy but dont fool customers. Check your order before you go back home, even no in restaurant but in the car, folks
I must say this place is outstanding in not only quality of food but customer service as well. The staff have been accommodating for all our requests. The staff have gone up and above from a previous error due to a non updated menu. We were so impressed we started coming here regularly. Of course the food quality exceeds our expectation but everyone customer wants to know they are more than just a dollar. We've ordered the same dishes from H Mart and it's a world of difference. Our 3 year old son can attest to that. If you are a parent you know how hard it is to have a young one eat anything. He will not eat the same food anywhere else. The restaurant is one of our favorite in the whole city. I refer this restaurant to everyone I know.
Came here after seeing an ad at Gangnam. I am so glad I did! The food I tried is delicious! I got #22 on the menu which is a spicy BBQ chicken and cheese. Had some rice cakes and cabbage mixed in. Got a side of rice with it as well. It was absolutely delicious! Very spicy and flavourful. I tried a bit of #24 which is a bibimbap bowl. Also very flavourful and delicious! It comes with kimchi, something pickled and a bean sprout mix to add to the bibimbap. The corn cheese was delicious as well! Staff were very friendly! Super handy being able to call staff with a call button on the side. I highly recommend this place if you are into trying new cultural foods!
The Dookbaeki was one of my favourite restaurant in Edmonton.from tonight order, i should consider this restaurant again. I found something weird blue piece on gamjatang. Please check food before pack it up.
Great little place! Service is very friendly. The stews we ordered were flavourful, rich, and delicious! Probably amongst the best I’ve had so far. Their sundae could be better but otherwise I have no complaints. Would recommend, especially on a cold winter day.
Faaabulous lunch spot! Cozy, bright, and clean ambience. My husband & I were visiting Edmonton for a few days and decided before leaving we would squeeze in time for some Korean Food. We found Dookbaeki Korean Restaurant conveniently located on the righthand side of the, southbound Calgary Trail/QE2 head out of the city. Being 11:30am Staff were busy but managed to be very inviting upon our arrival. So many wonderful items on the menu to choose from (note: they are not a BBQ restaurant), but don't let that stop you....the soups and stews are fantastic. My husband enjoyed #6 Brisket beef, shrimp, with creamy , soft tofu and I really enjoyed the Kimchi Stew with pork (kimchi jjigae). Both soups came with rice,. I'll tell ya what... dipping a heaping soup full of rice into the gorgeously prepared...delicious broth of either one of our soups was absolutely magnificent. The flavors are bold, but at the same time fresh and light. We shared both soups and they even complimented each other one being spicy, vinegary and they other one being spicy and heavier, feeling velvety and smooth like on the palette. Truly delicious food and the generoue serving size being perfect amount with trice for a wonderful lunch. Prices are affordable. Highly recommend this place for a delicious lunch to warm you up on a cold day.
