Food is just alright. Deep fried dough is not good. Salted egg yolk bun is pretty good. Their dim sum may not be their best but fried rice and noodles maybe better

They used to serve fantastic Hongkong style dim sum when they initially opened in Edmonton as a 'branch' of a famous restaurant from Vancouver. Unfortunately I fail to see a thread linking the two anymore. Almost all of the delicious and unique signature dishes are no longer offered here. Prices are still relatively upscale but oddly enough they chose to use single use disposable tablecloths not representative of a higher end establishment. Service is actually quite good and staff are likeable. Food arrives fresh and piping hot, cooked to order, a plus rating. Quality rivals Chinatown's major restaurants and is more than acceptable. I would have preferred a little more variety! Seating is comfortable and tables are nicely separated, both desirable features

I was soooooo hoping that this would be the same as the Chef Tony in Richmond but was sadly mistaken. The half empty restaurant during prime dim sum time on a Sunday should’ve given me a clue.

An authentic Chinese restaurant that offers extraordinary and unique plates. The presentation was very nice and the service was great

Perhaps it's a sign of Edmonton's cosmopolitan nature that you can get Dim Sum at a place called Tony's. While the selection is limited compared to other restaurants, the quality and service are great. The sticky rice is a notch above, and the pork and shrimp with truffles are worth trying.

I was planning to take out some Dimsum. When I went inside, the receptionist welcomed me so warmly. Politely showed me the menu and recommended the Stewed Duck Congee. I decided to dine in the restaurant. The servers were so jolly and focused on their tasks. Quick and safely, the servers served their customers with kindness and precision. Glad I decided to experience their dimsum, black truffle, pork and shrimp dumpling and the shrimp & matsutake dumplings. Awesome Chinese dumplings experience!!!

Delicious dim sum that is a little fancier than what you find in Chinatown. Lots of variety and mouth-watering flavors. No carts, as that tradition seems to be mostly faded out, but the tick-box menu to order has both English and Cantonese. The food comes as its ready and many staff are there to serve and clear away dishes. Several types of tea to choose from and the chrysanthemum was quite tasty. As always, best to go to dim sum with friends so you can order and sample more things. Popular items do sell out on busy weekends, so earlier is better if you want something in particular. The price point is a little higher than dim sum in Chinatown but excellent value in my opinion. I will definitely be back to Chef Tony's with my friends again

Overall good dim sum experience and service~ except the equipments are a bit old

Dishonest practices and complete lack of accountability. In June 2021, we wanted to get the free membership card. In response, a Chef Tony staffperson sold purchasing the VIP membership hard (cost: $100), claiming that it didn't make any sense not to get it, because it would pay for itself with two uses. She emphasized a $50 discount that would be available for your first purchase using the new membership. We have wanted to support local businesses, especially with the challenges of the pandemic, and had a good experience with Tropika's membership (in the same family of restaurants), so purchased it.In August 2021, we ordered takeout, and when we asked about the $50 discount, were told that they couldn't help us. The person that "knew" was out sick, and they couldn't do anything after the order was processed. (Instead, they applied a $5 discount from points that we had earned from a previous purchase.) We weren't even able to take advantage of the 15% membership discount with that order, because they applied the 10% takeout discount. When we returned in September 2021, we asked specifically about the 100,000 welcome points, because those were not credited to the account. We got weak excuses, about how maybe that was a promotion from when Chef Tony first opened (more than a year and a half ago) and is no longer available because Vancouver stopped it. We were told to not bother with the VIP membership in the future, and download the app instead, especially if we are doing takeout.Well, the Chef Tony VIP membership is still on their website, where it says clearly there are 100,000 welcome points worth $50. And we are out $100 with a useless membership. There have been repeated excuses made about the "computers in Vancouver", and how, as franchisees, they cannot do anything that has been changed or directed by Vancouver. That is unacceptable. "Vancouver" did not force Chef Tony Edmonton staff to push purchasing the membership.

Stopped here because of the name and location. I figured that to give a place in this weird location such an unexpected name, they must have some surprises up the sleeve. I was pleased to find that they did. I was with someone who couldn't decide what to order so, with some patient coaxing, the host helped us to decide what we wanted to eat then turned that into a meal order that we could agree on. The food came out quickly and was very good. I told them to expect to see me back and I meant it!
