We have eaten here a few times. The food is always fresh and tasty, service is always better than expected. I would recommend Bua Thai to anyone who wants authentic Thai food.
I don't eat at any other Thai place since I discovered this place about 4 years ago. I should go more often. The satay skewers are a must as an appetizer. I've had a bunch of different curries they are all good but my favorite is the shrimp with red curry. If you never had crying tiger steak the flavor at this place will blow your taste buds away. I tried the bbq lemongrass pork last time and it's right up there with the steak. The guy who always serves us is great(possibly the owner) is very good and the first few times we were there made great suggestions.
The food was good, I enjoyed. But the attitude of the guy there makes me understand why the place was empty. So bad.
Centrally located downtown. An independently owned restaurant. Authentic great Thai food. Wonderful service in a clean environment. The owner ensured quality of the food and service, the chef personally came to our table to ensure quality. You must experience quality Thai food here!

We ordered take out tonight as our go to Thai place was closed for Christmas Eve. We’ve ordered from here a good few times and the food tastes great and authentic but the portion sizes over the past 6 months have gotten smaller and smaller. This is already a pricey Thai restaurant and when I called and asked about why that was I was told prices of food have gone up so they have decreased portion sizes in response. No other restaurant we go to has done this. We 1000% did not get our money’s worth for a stir fry that cost $18.99. Will not be returning again. Photos are of the food in their container and then transferred to our bowl.
Bua Thai used to be one of the premiere Thai restaurants in the city a decade ago. I was interested to return after so many other new alternatives have opened up. I tried to order via the link in Google Maps except that took me to Skip the Dishes which said they didn't support Bua Thai. I then went to the website to order pickup which led me to Skip the Dishes...same result. I tried the link to order out...same result. So I called. I let the gentleman who answered the phone know that the link wasn't working. He said tersely that he knew and that it's been like that for two years but that I could use an android with Maps and it works. I said I had an android and it didn't. Never the less, he proceeded to take my order. I said I wanted a couple of veggie dishes. After order a veggie pad thai and a veggie stir fry, I wanted a few more dishes and he then said to me in a condescending tone, "I thought you only wanted two veggie dishes." I said I was interested in more so got the spring rolls, ride and green curry. He then reminded me again that I had said I only wanted two veggie dishes and was now getting five dishes. Whomever is answering the phone has a sincere desire to prove to the customer that they are in the wrong. Why wouldn't they be happy I was now ordering five dishes and not two. The food was great. But the service via the phone and when I picked up was terrible. I only rate four and five star establishments. But am adding this review here as I would like to inform future customers of the brutal service.
Supper last night here was fantastic. Authentic Thai food with gluten free options!!! I can’t believe I haven’t been here before. This will now be my favourite Thai restaurant in Edmonton.
