The Brits on Argyl seems to be a much better kept restaurant. It does however have the same GREAT food and staff was pleasant!TarTar Sauce, "To Die For!!!""We had "The Works" and think it was an Awesome deal!! Deal comes with 4 Big pieces of fish (2 cod & 2 Haddock) , 1 order of onion rings, 2 order of fries plus 2 small sides. The proper battered fish and the onion rings were cooked perfectly...fresh cut fries, nice and hot. Nom Nom!!!There was is a very unpleasant odour inside for dining in(not from the fish or the fryer grease)!! Next time we will definately be doing take-out or just head over to the Argyl location...

Got "The Works" which is pretty reasonable for the price, 2 pieces of cod, 2 pieces of haddock, rings, fries and 2 sides. Cod and haddock cooked perfectly. Meat was flakey and moist but the batter was unbearably oily, same goes for the onion ring batter. I don't think I've experienced such an awful batter as this. It had such a strange texture that crumbled away when you cut it with a knife but melted into an oily slew once in your mouth. I'm not familiar with British style fish n chips to say if this is not how it's supposed to be but I know enough that it was not good compared to other fish n chips I've eaten at other local restaurants. I had to scrape away the batter so that I could eat the fish and enjoy it. I probably would have complained but I really didn't want to bother the staff. They were wonderful and kind and also extremely busy that night, they may have even been short staffed as the wait was longer than I expected. Rating is purely based on the fish batter, got to have this locked down if you're a fish n chips restaurant and this experience was nasty.

Stop trying to find Nemo and head over to Brits! Skip past P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way and head Downtown for the best fish & chips, and then some, in the Capital city. We’ve been regulars here ever since a friend brought me one of their fried pickles. I was SOLD!They have gluten free breading and it’s all deep fried in beef tallow. Not only is it the traditional way, it’s the best way for flavour, texture and health (I avoid veggie oils). The menu is extensive. Exceptional service and the food arrives fast wether you dine in or take out. Take out is GR8 as it’s wrapped in paper the good ole fashioned way.Like my school of family, friends and colleagues, once you take the bait, it’s hook, line & sinker. You’ll not be disappointed. We eat there almost weekly to stay strong!

Love the fish, a bit pricey for the size but tasty, reason for only 2 stars…..fries are barely warm and limp, why is everything “wet and soggy”, ya charge $5.50 for Newfie style dressing and gravy on your chips and not sure where ya buy it from or if it’s made in house but it’s not Newfie dressing!!!!!need a new supplier or recipe. Soggy and flavourless, you can smell the savoury as it comes to the table but that’s it. Waste of money and should not be on your menu.

Omg. Can you say that rhis is the best fish and chips in the city. Oh YESFrom the moment I walked, staff was amazing, friendly, courteous. Explained the menu..Got the cod fish and chips. 2 pieces is more that enough to fill you up.The food was AMAZING . Highly pieces. One of my new favorite restaurants

I'm a big fan of their Fish and Chips. The best in town. Very crispy and not oily. I got a big portion of fish meat and I love how well it coated with batter just right. Unlike other restaurants its all batter, less meat. I'm definitely coming back. ?

Have been to downtown location many times over the years. Haven't been for a few years (pandemic) and went in 2022 and something has changed. Batter has no flavor and is all crunch - just disintegrates. The fish is barely there, it's all batter. The fish used to be meaty and flakey, now it's like mush and flavorless. New recipes? New fish supplier? New owners? What happened? Service was very friendly though.

Fish is surprisingly really good! A bit on the pricey side, but delicious and not heavy on the batter. Service is a little slow but friendly. The fish batter is almost like tempura which we appreciate. The clam chowder was a little sour which was interesting.

Authentic British fried fish. Best I've had outside of the isles.Recommend the fried oysters, onion rings and even their pies (Steak and Mushroom especially).

The decor is in serious need of some upgrading, the heater was broken so it was 100 degrees in there. The food was ok, a bit heavy on the oils. Service was pleasant.
