If you're looking for a true dive bar with live music but also nice staff, Vern's is your place! I've been here only once to support a friend's band. A few good options on tap and definitely a unique vibe. Dive bars aren't usually my scene but if I happen to know another band playing, I'll definitely stop in!FYI: Vern's is cash only. They do have an ATM machine, though.
Found Verns by total accident while visiting downtown Calgary.The place is a total hole in the wall and not a single air of pretense to be had. You come here if you like cheap beer and a DIY local music scene vibe.Clint is an absolute prince. Recognized us and remembered our drink orders from the night before. Made us feel more than welcome and definitely not strangers when we walked in.Vern's is the type of place you want to keep an open secret, cuz they don't make them like this anymore.5 stars across the board. Will be back ASAP.
I love going to Vern's for the local bands and enjoying some good music.Clint can rub ppl the wrong way at times but once you get to know him he can be pretty cool beans, I guess that's the way she goes when you're in a basement listening to metal
Best dive bar in Calgary, probably Alberta, if you’re a snobby person you’ll hate it here and that’s what makes it even better.Just say please when you order a beer, and you’ll have a great time!
UpdateCame by for some local live music. Place hasn't changed at all which is awesome. Still a dive but a good dive. People are always friendly.Came for a Sin and Gin show and it was fantastic.
Great little venue for local music, and the staff have always been friendly to me. If you can’t handle saying “please and thank you” after ordering a drink you probably shouldn’t be going out at all :)
Great dive for live music and comradery. All are welcome, Clint is a big teddy bear. Bathroom doors are always destroyed so don't expect privacy.

Great place for the metal scene. Love going there and listening to local and out of town bands. Clint does a wonderful job of blending himself in with all the bands and customers that also love going there , especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Keep up the good work.Cheers my friend!?❤
