The location and service are great. The food is very average though. The menu is unimaginative, which is fine when executed well. However, all of the dishes we ordered tasted quite bland and lacking in flavor overall. We were unimpressed, and rather baffled as to how this ended up on a "Best of Calgary" list.
Kitchen exceedingly slow. Server very pleasant. Food delicious.
Out of town visit
Flavours on all the meals were fantastic. Onion pieces were quite large with my Moroccan cod, which was a bit odd.
Wonderful food and great service! I had heard great things about this place and I will definitely be back.
I've been to Vendome many times and once again did not disappoint. The food is delicious and service is fabulous! A great little gem!
Vendome came out of the pandemic with refreshing and ambitious changes that have elevated the dining experience significantly. The dinner menu is sophisticated and most importantly, tasty. It is easy to share a range of dishes in any combination you desire. We enjoyed the smashed potatoes and wild mushroom arancini along with a slightly less interesting Serrano crostini. The potato dish provided a nice supply of arugula to make sure we got our greens, and the arancini was nothing short of sublime. The beer menu is small but sufficient and their coffee is close to some of the best in the city (still a little inconsistent and needing more staff training to get the firm foam and attractive design). The table service is excellent, with cheerful and knowledgeable staff.
Everything was delicious with attentive service.
The atmosphere was good. The appetizers of mushrooms and fish were delicious but the main course of pasta was big disappointment. The portion was small and sauce tasted like some something out of jar from Safeway.
Service was excellent, and the ambiance was amazing. While the food was well executed and delicious, $29 for three tiny scallops was a bit much. Otherwise the food was presented well, was fresh, and full of flavour. Will be back for more.
