My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the squid ink spaghetti with prawns and the scallop uni fettuccine. Honestly, the pastas were perfectly done as you find in a white tablecloth restaurant (for triple the price). The umami in each dish was naturally derived from seafood, not forced by seasoning and beautifully garnished by fresh arugula. We finished the meal with house made ice cream, Blue Moon and Butter Me Up. The Blue Moon was chock full of whole blueberries and the Butter Me Up was smooth avocado. Not terribly sweet but really full of flavour and great creamy texture.Let me cut to the chase: you have to eat here. It’s incredibly pocketbook friendly, delicious and unpretentious. I tipped generously as it was going to the hard working chef in their open kitchen preparing all those dishes with love. It’s great food at an amazing price which is such a rare business model.
Finally an affordable Japanese noodle house!! Great food!
Love this little noodle station! I really like how they served small bowl of Raman because I couldn’t never finish big bowl with cheaper price. The soup really good. We enjoyed the inside decor and food with a small gifts shop and snack they provide.
Awesome place to dine in for Japanese pasta! I had a scallop&uni pasta. For the first try, I thought interesting. And then boom! I just couldn't stop using my fork to my big mouth. Very reasonable price for pasta since all of them are $7 or $10! I don't even know how they use uni to make $10 pasta. Definately my place for pasta.
Delicious ramen!!!!Tonkatsu and laksa are my favorites. They have 2 kinds of Chashu, the one that comes with the bigger bowl of ramen tastes better. The Croffle's were quite nice too - crunchy and chewy. The Bao buns were decent. I think the chashu in the Bao buns were a little too bland for my liking.5 stars for the broth! This is one of my favorite ramen spots in the city.
Much like the one in crescent Heights but without that busy-ness out the door...this is a great spot to go to grab quick eats. Also have buzzers to alert you when your food is ready. There is patio and indoor spacing. Staff is friendly. Spot is very clean. Glad that there is a Tokyo station in this neighbourhood now.Tokyo station - not meant to be the best in Japanese food but it hits the spot (more than supermarket sushi items) and budget friendly too. Quality is still there but nothing restaurant extravagant either.
Where to start? I had high hopes for this place, I was actually looking forward too visiting This place as it was always great visiting Tokyo street market. We went here yesterday and upon coming in, the first thing we noticed was the uncleaned tables on the main floor and stacked dirty dishes by the Stairs. I was not able to take a photo as there another table with people in them and I didn’t want them to think I’m taking a photo of them. The food was also very disappointing. We got two onigiri from downstairs (one karaage and one chasu). Both seems old, like they have been sitting there for a few days. The chasu filling was ok, but the karaage was not. There were barely any chicken in there, mostly the batter for the karaage. We also got two ramen meals and wings. The wings was probably the best thing we got here, they were crispy and season well. We got takoyaki and gyoza for our side and both appears to be pre-made so they were ok for what they were. For the ramen, we got the bold and aka ramen. The ramen noodles on both was either over or under cooked, whatever it was, the texture was just not right, very unappealing! The soup base for the bold ramen was also super salty, which is what I got, I couldn’t finish the bowl (and it’s a small bowl). The topping for both ramen was also super dry.I am very disappointed
Market:As we came into the store the staff greeted us and are very friendly! We looked at various market items for sale and they were all fun and delightful as one might expect from a Japanese Market, I will come back for some matcha. I bought some instant boba tea packets, I can't wait to try them.Ramen:The Main floor and upstairs has dining space for the ramen, a very quick and simple menu. We ordered a really delicious ramen with truffle oil. My friends ordered gyoza and said they would come back too.Ice-cream:Downstairs we sampled their wasabi and miso ice-cream and they were so different and delicious, I'm coming back for more one day. We bought a matcha soft serve and a lemon ice cream that tasted incredibly fresh, the lemon zest in it was top notch. They made the ice-creams there, nobody else makes flavours like this in Calgary.Update after 6 months:The ramen is 100% consistent after coming quite a few times. The staff are still friendly and the place is always clean. This is now one of my go-to ramen places.
This is another great Ramen place for folks who have been to Tokyo Steet Market. This is a very similar borth.I liked the Ramen here I did feel like the Chashu was smaller when you compare it with Ichinen Ramen, I would also say you get what you pay for and it's amazing.
This place is a gem for all your Japanese cravings and Tokyo streets nostalgia. Don’t be deceived by this small house resto. It has three floors to accommodate dine-in as well as take out orders. Their menu is not that extensive, but they go direct to the point of your cravings for cheap Ramen and delicious Japanese side dishes like gyoza, edamame and chicken wings! We tried their Ramen combo with one choice of side and any drink from their fridge. I got the Melon carbonated drink and it taste like my childhood melon soda! Their Tonkorsu Ramen tasted really savoury with tender juicy pork cuts, delicious garlic broth and firm noodles. It only costs you $9 for Ramen! Actually it’s better than any other expensive ramen places in Calgary. My wife ordered the Sushi Bento with 8 sushi rolls and 4 sashimi, miso soup and salad bowl. And it also costs $9!! Their Takoyaki was also great with real bits of octopus/squid and savoury batter. We will be back for sure!!
