We visited Calgary very briefly and we were looking for a place to grab a bite and a drink. We found the Derrick down the street from our hotel. We split the deep fried cheese curds and each ordered a salad. The food was very good and the service was attentive and very friendly. They had a whole list of different cocktails and martinis, we each tried a cocktail. They were good and definitely a little different but I mean that in a good way.I do recommend the Derrick for anyone looking for a little bit of a unique experience and for any classic martini lovers. All the food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked really good and if we were in town longer, we would have loved to go back and try a few more items.

Arguably the best bar in Calgary! Franco is a master with gin, whatever you think of he can make! He's up for the challenge. Always a great time and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their craft. I highly recommend if you're in town!Thanks for another great time?
We were greeted immediately and seated in this eclectic little bar and restaurant with what looks to be an awesome menu. The server was fantastic and very helpful, especially with helping to pick out a pre meal cocktail (we showed up a bit before our dinner guests). Unfortunately the bartender was not "Up to snuff"...... The bar, as expected is in full view of the diners. During the course of preparing our two drinks we watched the bartender give the old snot salute multiple times and then proceed to touch ingredients (olives...etc) that were part of the cocktails without washing his hands. We let the server and who I only assume was the manager or owner know what we had witnessed, and obviously refused our cocktails. We were put off enough that we didn't end up staying. Hopefully they can get their bartending up to par with the rest of the experience. We'd sure like to tryout some of what hear is fantastic food next time we're in town.
Fantastic food! Can't say that enough! Interesting/endless gin menu. Jess was our server, she was terrific. We'll be back to this place for sure!
Had a really nice celebratory night here during the week. Was super quiet, the service was great. Cocktails were all really nice and generally a bit cheaper than other cocktail centric places. I noticed a sign about happy hour when leaving which we'll be sure to check out soon!
We went to The Derrick for the first time last night. The Gin drinks are fantastic!! The food was so good! I had the stuffed chicken breast and highly recommend it! So flavourful! We will be going back!
First time here last night with the fellas. We were starving, and I think we ordered 1/3 of everything on the menu. All of it was excellent, but the fried pickles, duck confit tacos and Montreal smoked meat sandos (fabulous meat and bread) were big standouts. Service was fantastic. Our server Jayda (sp?) was awesome…the perfect balance of friendly, engaging and attentive. Will be back. Recommend!!
Originally emailed and coordinated a birthday dinner for a maximum of 22 people and due to Covid we slowly dwindled down to a modest group of 7. I coordinated all arrangements prior with Nathan, the manager, and he was beyond accommodating. We were served by both Kai and Jada and they were phenomenal! This has been the best birthday, and we were served with kindness, courtesy, and just a bit of finesse. I wish I took more photos but everything was so wonderful I didn’t have the time to photograph before the food was devoured. An absolutely spectacular birthday and I will be booking celebrations at this restaurant in the future! Every one in my group said they would 100% be back!
I’ve been on a mission to try out local tartare places and this did not disappoint! Delicious, classic tartare with a hint of truffle. However the highlights were the amazing staff and bar tender Sebastian! Really friendly and personable also made an awesome PayDay Cocktail ! Can’t wait to come back and try their extensive Gin menu (they even have Steinhart gin- which is a magical gin brewed by German engineer and he’s amaze balls ! Thanks you
